I won a pair of New Balance MT 110 trail shoes!
I entered a contest on Byron Powell's iRunfar web site and got an email this morning. I thought it was just an email announcing the winners. I know they are more minimalist type shoes, so I know I will have to ease into the use of them. It may turn out that my feet are not made for this type of shoe, so time will tell. I now use Brooks Trailblades (with non-custom orthotics), so this will be quite a change. I was looking to get the Cascadia shoe and may still need that.
At the least, I could run with them for short distances to build up some foot muscles.
I almost never win anything, so at least it is something that might be very useful to me.

Woot! Congrats.
We expect a full review now, of course.

I have a pair of the New Balance MT10 minimus trail, and the zero drop is tough to get used to. I train a lot in Lunar Racers, Frees, Lunar Spiders, etc. - a lot of lightweight and flats. But the NB minimus still beat up my ankles and feet. So ease into them.
But congrats on the win!

Wendy just got a pair, so I am sure we will get a report from her too.

Re: I won a pair of NB MT 110 trail shoes!
Congrats! Very cool.
Just for clarity sack but the current version of the Minimus Trail and MT110 have 4mm drops, not 0mm.
But the MT110 solves some of the problems plagued by the current Minimus - namely the addition of a rock plate to help prevent stone bruising. I also liked the outsole / traction a lot more on the MT110.
The problem I have with the shape of both of these shoes, and I believe it is the same, is that I find it too rounded for my feet in the normal widths. My pinky, fourth and third toes rub against the inside, outer edge of the shoe and blister. NB are the only shoes that have given me blisters in any area.
If your foot doesn't rub here I think this is a near perfect trail shoe though. I really liked everything about it except that aspect - which is a deal breaker for me. I hope you don't find this to be an issue for you though as I would love to be able to train in this shoe.

Re: I won a pair of NB MT 110 trail shoes!
A friend of Wendy's told me that he wears size 12 shoes, but had to go to 12.5 for the NB MT 110.
I emailed Bryon Powell and asked him to change the size for me.
He replied very quickly and made the change for me - he was waiting to hear back from the other 4 winners to get the size info ready to send to New Balance and then they will ship them out to us.
I think it will be better to have a little more room, so we will see how it goes with 12.5 shoes.
