- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?

all out doors

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?

not running on the TM...but I did go to the Y I'd run next to a friend and try to remember not to spit indoors.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?

I have reflective stuff on my jacket and shoes...and run on the left side of the road and listen for cars

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?

I don't know.

- Any recent movie recommendations?

Courageous is good, according to my husband, I mostly like old movies (1940s)

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?

Lincoln Marathon as a volunteer.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?

I read about 1/3 of it then my friend wanted it back so I didn't get far enough to start running barefoot. I tried taking running clothes off the clothesline last summer barefoot and got a bee sting on my foot so I think I'm destined to wear shoes.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?

yes

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?

I get injured because I add too many miles + speedwork at the same time. And it's been less than a year so I'm not a good example for you all.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?

he's too busy running?

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?

No idea... I really like my timex with 30 splits and I just listen to my body for effort.

Thanks for starting the thread, John!

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors? 0% All outside and 3 runs on YMCA track

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM? If I did, or when I do elliptical, I would watch Dexter or The Office DVD's

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible? Don't run in the dark.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards? I haven't seen any recent movies--no clue.

- Any recent movie recommendations? See above!

- What races do you have coming up in the spring? State Farm 10 mile in Lincoln, the Lincoln Half Marathon in May

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it? No, I haven't read it.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon? I haven't really tried

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why? Pretty much injury free for 5 years--attributed to keeping most runs on softer surface and no more than 3 days in a row (at first every other day then 2 in a row). I did get a hammie injury from shoveling snow last winter but it set me back just a few weeks.

- How come Chris isn't blogging? Wish more people were keeping running blog!!

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin? Garmin

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?

--> I was mostly outdoors until mid-January, then probably 80% on the TM until this week. All runs starting this past Sunday (except for one day) were outside. The tide has turned, spring is here!

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?

--> I strap a tray on the TM and watch a DVD player, usually with TV series (this is at the health club, no TM at home)

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?

--> I use blinking arm bands and a bright light, which I move all around so people in cars see me. I also try to stay to sidewalks more

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?

--> "The Help" - it's the only one I saw

- Any recent movie recommendations?

--> No, I need some now

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?

--> A half marathon in a week, then the Boston marathon mid-April

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?

--> I am reading it now, very interesting. I am trying to get to light and lighter shoes. It's helped a lot to get away from orthotics and motion control shoes over the past year

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?

--> Closest ever was the Flying Pig where I pretty much met the goal. Most marathons I slow too much the last 3-4 miles and get disgusted with the band. In warm weather marathons, I am always in denial and usually the pacer band is ditched after halfway

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?

--> Injury free for almost two years. I had a bad injury two years ago, went to a sports doc, who told me I don't need orthotics or motion control. She said to gradually get rid of them. I have done that and now am moving down to 8 and 10 oz shoes, it's pretty freaking awesome! Note I did slip and fall in January and hurt my knee but that shouldn't count.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?

--> Exactly, why not Chris?

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?

--> I love the Garmin but do feel that they all have a lot of issues. Currently mine says "Low battery" all the time even if fully charged, and with the latest software version. Safe would be to get the Garmin, maybe a bolder step is the new Nike.

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?

0 vs not much

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?

10 miles in a small hotel gym very early in the morning by myself, it was scary especially after I happened to see a few seconds of a horror movie.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?

I run under street lights on the side walk or park trail.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?

Don't care.

- Any recent movie recommendations?

Don't know.

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?

3/25, Rock n Roll Dallas Half. Should not have registered. Damn coupon.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?

Have been wondering if I should buy it.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?

Never worked on me. I do have pace plan though.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?

No major injury. My right foot pain has been bothering me for 2 years though.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?

Blame Facebook.

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?

Garmin 601.

Yay! A Friday Thread!

What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?
More than usual, but not because of the weather. I was rehabbing an injury and keeping it close to home to be on the safe side.

What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?
I pretty much just run and zone out.

If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?
I wear a headlamp, a reflective vest and bright gloves if it's cold.

Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?
The Artist, just because it's different and creative.

Any recent movie recommendations?
No.

What races do you have coming up in the spring?
None! I'm taking racing off all year for Lent - 2013.

Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?
Several times. I thought it was a fun read, and inspired me to think more about trail running, biomechanics and even more minimal footwear.

Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?
Nope.

How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?
Even though I obliterated my foot/ankle back in November, I actually consider myself injury-free for several years. Why? Because I hurt my ankle and foot not because of an overuse injury, but because I rolled my ankle on a root - a freak traumatic injury. I was otherwise fine, and I attribute that to keeping the intensity of my runs low (mostly through low HR training) and by using more minimal footwear (Nike Frees) that allow my foot to move naturally and feel the ground. (Edit to note: I didn't count a bad bout of overtraining in 2010 as an injury because I didn't have a specific mechanical injury. Hm.)

How come Chris isn't blogging?
He doesn't want to jinx Boston. Given his luck, I can't say that I blame him.

Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?
Garmin. Stick with what works.

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?
What winter?

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?
Music or TV

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?
Nada... I run defensively in a low traffic area

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?
Haven't been up on movies

- Any recent movie recommendations?
The Lorax

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?
Maybe Corporate Challenge in June. Maybe not.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?
Nope. Never read it.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?
Not a pacing band, but in Chicago '10 I had a specific goal time at miles 9 and 18 and was dead on. Finished with nearly even 5k splits start to finish.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?
I haven't been 'injured' in a few years likely due to the fact that my training approach doesn't emphasize high intensity running.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?
Chris believes that his training approach is too revolutionary to publicize. That, or he's too busy running to take the time to blog about it.

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?
Polar. Or one of the others.

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?
A few (5mi total?) on the TM, but because I was rehab-ing my knee, not due to inclement weather.

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?
Lady Gaga.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of running in the dark?

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?
I didn't see anything in 2011 that seemed worthy.

- Any recent movie recommendations?
See above. TV, however: The Walking Dead.

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?
Boston.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?
Yes; kept me inspired through my taper madness last year. I just bought chia seeds last night.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?
Ish. I use it to get myself "on time" sometime between miles 7-13, but after that, I just use the Garmin splits.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?
2 months. I went from doing 100+ mile weeks to doing a total of 4 half-hour runs over the course of 6 weeks. Then I thought I'd jump right back on the wagon with a 10 mile GA run. Stupid.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?
He needs to train for himself.

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?
He should have a GPS receiver implanted in the back of his neck with a display implanted on his cornea.

What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors? Pretty much all on the TM right now.

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM? Staring into space, watching the race course on my TM (Nordic Track 1750 with Google maps), staring into space

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible? Won't do it around here, won't even do it around here during the day.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards? Haven't a clue

- Any recent movie recommendations? Nope

- What races do you have coming up in the spring? Indy Mini coming up the first of May

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it? Started it but didn't have time to finish it before it was due back from my ebook library. I've been reading alot of running books, though.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon? Yes, a couple of times with success, a couple of times it's been removed and tossed around mile 20.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why? Tight shoes ended up giving me a nerve entrapment issue in my left foot. A touch of PF in my right foot but that is gone for almost 10 months now.

- How come Chris isn't blogging? Lots of facebook?

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin? One of each.

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors? <5% on the treadmill

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM? Watching TV

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible? I have several vests with reflective material

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards? I would abstain - I've only seen two of the nominees (Money Ball and The Artist). I get why the Artist won.

- Any recent movie recommendations? No, but John Carter got a great review by a reviewer I usually agree with - so it's on my list.

- What races do you have coming up in the spring? None scheduled. I just ran Napa Valley Marathon last weekend. I need to decide if I've got another big race in me before fall.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it? No, I need to read it just so I can make conversation. When people learn I'm a runner, they often bring it up.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon? I've only used a pace band twice. A resounding no the first time (my first marathon). The second time was St. George last fall, and I did well up until my bonk at mile 24.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why? If you don't count niggles, 5years. I've run at least 100 miles/month since March 2007. I had some left knee pain in January, but it didn't bench me. I attribute it to: (1) I'm pretty good about listening to my body and backing off when the niggles start; (2) I've found a 5 days running/week pattern that works for me; (3) I'm slow, which makes it harder to do damage.

- How come Chris isn't blogging? Dunno...humility?

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin? I've only ever had a Garmin, so I say Garmin

What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors? 99% outdoor, 1% (speedwork) indoors on an indoor track or treadmill

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM? Don't spend enough time on the TM to have a past-time. We will see when I'm back in Ohio next winter.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible? Where a reflective vest and a headlamp.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards? No clue, but I did like the Descendents.

- Any recent movie recommendations? Nope

- What races do you have coming up in the spring? Publix Georgia Half next weekend, Cherry Blossom on April 1, and then Boston.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it? Yes, I read it and I enjoyed it. No I did not make any changes except maybe look more at lighter weight shoes.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon? Yes, but only as a Pacer where I was not racing, but following a specific pace. I often use one as a reference tool though and have successfully done that.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why? Really more than a year for any major injuries as I don't really count the little niggles that might have me miss a run or dial back a bit. I'm being a lot smarter about listening to my body, stretching, using the foam roller, etc.

- How come Chris isn't blogging? Too busy finishing the Honey-do list and looking for his shoes. Wish he would get back at it.

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin? He is all set.

Probably well under half this year. Almost all of my weekend runs were outside. Many weekday runs were on the mill, but those tended to be fewer miles, and a higher percentage than normal were outside this year. Awesome training weather this winter here!

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?

Watch college hoops on the tube. Otherwise, any sporting event.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?

If I'm on the track, not a thing! If on the road, which I rarely do any more in the dark, I have a reflective vest, a blinking light on the back of that, and a headlamp.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?

I didn't see anything last year that I really thought was worthwhile (including The Artist, which I saw the night before the awards).

- Any recent movie recommendations?

Fargo Smile

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?[/size]

A half in Cheshire, CT at the very end of April, and the Vermont City Marathon on Memorial Day weekend, assuming I can avoid injury problems.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?

No.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?

No. I've never been able to avoid a big drop off in pace for the last 10K or so, so could not possibly have followed a pace wrist band!

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?

Not sure that I am, but so far I'm optimistic. Most recent disabling injury was PF last year, still lingering.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?

He's coming to grips with difficult races and sorting out how he wants to approach his running - he needs time.

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?

Garmin is the only way to go.

Thanks for doing this!

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?

7% maybe. 1x per week or every other week if that for hill work nothing to do with winter weather. Especially this past winter in NJ.

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?

Passing time.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?

Wear christmas lights maybe a menorah on my head and scream like a jackass!

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?

Did not see all of them so can't judge!

- Any recent movie recommendations?

Moneyball!

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?

NYC HM next week is that spring yet? April - Illinois Marathon

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?

Bored to run you mean! Could not get past the first few pages.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?

Usually only until mile 20 I can keep it pretty close depending on the course but after 20 I want to rip the freakin band off my wrist with the skin.

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?

Since 2009. Orthodics. ART. Getting help quicker!
I had AT issues at the start of 2009 kept out of running on and off for 10 weeks. That was fun.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?

Who?

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?

Garmin anything else seems uncivilized

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors? All of my runs were either outdoors or on an indoor track. I run a lot of shorter runs year round indoors at lunch across the street from my office. All long runs and medium long runs have been outside.

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM? N/A. I listen to music on the indoor track

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible? I have mild night blindness, so I don't run in the dark.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards? Undecided, didn't see any of them!

- Any recent movie recommendations? No, because I'm a movie idiot! I rarely go to them, although I have tickets to the Hunger Games on opening weekend because I loved the books.

- What races do you have coming up in the spring? I got an 8k PR today in the Tinely Park Running of the Green! Next is the IL half marathon and then the Traverse City Bayshore Marathon.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it? I have the book and have not started reading it yet.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon? Never tried it!

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why? Not long enough injury free. I seem healthier than normal this marathon training cycle though and I think it is because I am doing a 10 day "week" program with some weeks even 12 days between long runs. The extra recovery time has kept me feeling pretty good and allowed for more uptempo stuff.

- How come Chris isn't blogging? confused No idea!

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin? Garmin. Although I have been annoyed with Garmin lately for non-running related reasons, It still is the best quality GPS watch.

What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?

For 2012, well over half my miles have been on the mill. But not because of the winter weather. We had an incredibly mild winter here. But I like the convience of the mill so I do virtually all of my midweek running on it (maybe 1-2 outside) and then weekend runs outside.

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?

TV shows. With Netflix streaming and OnDemand, I've done Rome, Deadwood, Dexter, BSG, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Weeds and Game of Thrones. I'm thinking I should try Mad Men.

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?

I really don't run outside in the dark ever if I can avoid it. Our neighborhood has very few lights and the main running trail I use is unlit. So I just avoid it.

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?

i don't think I have seen ANY of them! I did read Moneyball and would like to see it but we always seem to wait now until they come out on DVD and hardly ever go to a non-kids movie.

- Any recent movie recommendations?

I finially saw Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels after watching all of the other Guy Ritchie movies. That was a great way to get through a medium length run.

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?

Boston

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?

I read it and enjoyed it. Its funny because I was so much more interested in the story of the Tarahumara runners and the race El Caballo Blanco was pulling together than all the long sections on minimlast footwear and stride discussion. The book would have been better for me with a whole lot less of Barefoot Ted and a whole lot more of Scott Jurek and Jenn Shelton.

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?

Um, through the full race? No. I've followed it very closely until the blow-up where I can no longer hold anything close to desired goal pace. Well, let me ammend that. I've paced a buddy twice to BQs and for those, I followed a band very closely and with a precise pace. The lesson? Its a lot easier to execute the plan when you run slower than your max pace! Who knew?

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?

I guess that I've never really had a serious running injury. I was a DNF in one marathon with some kind of abductor strain and there was a right calf flare up. Both of those sidelined me for about a week, no more. So I guess that's about 4 years of running without serious injury. How? Don't really know although I'm not a believer in taking many days off. I typically run about 13 out of every 14 days and double often within there. I think running slowly much more often is a good way to break your body into the demands of training and keeps away the injury bug. Said a simple way, 7 days a week of 4 miles a day running I think is far less likely to lead to an injury than the same weekly mileage done with a single 8 and a single 20. That's an extreme example but in general I think that running more often rather than taking full rest days is an injury prevention tool so long as you go slowly enough on the recovery days.

- How come Chris isn't blogging?

Ha ha! I should. I got really busy with life and work stuff around the holidays and so when I started up my Boston training at the start of 2012, I was just too jammed for time. Ok, how about I do one post-Boston? I'm always happy to answer anything anyone wants to know about what I've been up to. Mostly more of the same. It has been a good cycle so far with some major long runs including two marathons done already in 2012 but not as much pure speed work. I can't remember the last time Dave sent me to the track although I did do 800s on the mill this week. Like everyone getting ready for Boston, I'm in the crunch of it now.

Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?

The Garmin 610is my recommendation. I got a MotoActv and it is very cool, especially with the wireless earphones for the music. But I don't find it as useful for standard training runs where I want to see the screen the whole time I run and see current lap pace, exact mileage etc. If I leave the screen on and have the wireless music going, i doubt I could finish a 10 mile run before the battery conked out. So the Garmin is the way to go from what I've seen.

OK, I was lame last week and didn't reply - since there is nothing (yet?) this week, I'll be a week late - sorry John and thanks for doing this!

- What percent of your winter miles were on the treadmill vs. outdoors?
When I was running healthy, less than 5% on the mill

- What is your favorite past-time while on the TM?
Listening to music

- If you run in the dark, what do you do to make yourself more visible?
Brooks reflective vest, headlight, blinking red light

- Which movie would you have voted for for best picture in the Academy awards?
Since I never get to see anything but kids movies these days, I guess it would have to be the Muppets (how sad is that?)

- Any recent movie recommendations?
No, but I just got to watch season 5 of Dexter - great show... Also rewatched running on the sun - fascinating...

- What races do you have coming up in the spring?
Ed Gaw Amelia Island Open Water 5K in the Atlantic ocean late May - don't know anyone that has ever done one, have nobody to do it with, have no experience with it, don't really get the opportunity to swim in the ocean, and basically have no clue what one of these things is even about or how it is run. Should be interesting. nothing else until I can run again.

- Have you read "Born to Run" - if so, what are your thoughts on the book and did you make any changes in your running/lifestyle due to it?
Love the book - haven't found it easy to change my running style, but I guess I'm in the category of hurt runners - at least I know I'm in good company though....

- Have you ever been able to roughly follow a pacing wrist band through a full marathon?
Never tried it - I think it would be sort of annoying though...

- How long have you been running-injury free? If more than one year, what do you attribute it to? If injured in the past year, why?
Ha - healing as we speak. I think I got hurt from probably lack of core training and more likely from too many years of relative inactivity...

- How come Chris isn't blogging?
Don't know, but he makes a good one - come on Chris....

- Should Dave-O buy a Garmin, Polar, Timex or the new Nike GPS watch, to replace his lost Garmin?
Problem solved I guess...
