Rehoboth Marathon Dec 8. Considering as back up to NYC or Philly.

I assume this is pretty dam flat.

Looks pretty flat to me! Funny how hilly maps look when you squeeze 26 miles into a small box...

It looks pretty good though after 20 miles, even a small incline will be noticed. I looked it up, are parts of this on a trail?

Weird, I've been to Rehobeth many times and I never thought of it as anything but flat; however, I was at the beach and along the water always. I'm guessing that the Chicago elevation might looked similar in a compressed version.

Not in the slightest - the Y axis is only 40 feet right?

Kenny it doesn't look at that bad. The biggest decline is what 40 feet? At best I would call it some slight bumps in the road which should work to your advantage if you feel you run better over rolling hills. Again I would call the course rolling hills but it is not completely flat like the Chicago marathon course.

Like you I prefer course with hills, hence the reason why the last couple of years my PR's at the marathon distance came in Boston. I feel that they play more in to my strengths as a runner.

Good luck!

This.

Why would anyone set up a graph like that?

I ran the half at Rehobeth last year. It was a nice course...mostly on roads but with a nice trail section through a wooded/farming area. I don't remember it as hilly at all but also not pancake flat. I remember being glad that I didn't run the full marathon as the wind came up and I believe the marathon runners would have finished with a noticeable headwind.

Nice community and nice race overall.
