Seems like you've done everything you need to do to get that BQ. Wishing you luck, Nick. Enjoy the last 2 weeks of taper and keep yourself healthy.

My favorite of all of the Rocky montages. I think this one is my favorite, because he basically has to train himself with the death of Apollo. It reminds me a lot of my marathon training. It's just me and the road...

I was taking the trash out this moring before I headed to work and saw the trash truck at the end of alley. Ooops, I missed it.
Wait, that was the recycle one.

Hey, that's Team America: World Police! Get your crappily hilarious movies straight, would ya? My favorite scene in that movie is when they make fun of Rent. I had recently seen it and thought it was completely awful and depressing, so it really made me laugh.

5 miles...The daily miles are starting to get shorter as I inch closer to race day. 5 easy miles this evening on a weird foggy day. The fog never did seem to lift today and it made me feel like I was living in Seattle instead of Madison, WI. Anyways, I put the work in again today. Completed 5.12 miles at a 7:25 pace.

Lookin' good, Nick. How are you feeling? Got that taper-slump as the muscles repair? Fresh already?
Re: 21 Weeks to a BQ
Jim is, of course, correct. Team America: World Police is done by Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park fame but a different movie/concept entirely. But the training "Montage" song was originally a South Park thing. Hey Nick, how you doing? Go watch some South Park or Team America during taper to relax and have a good time. Here's the South Park training montage:mul21 wrote:Chris M wrote:This South Park one was always my favorite....

In any sport if you want to go,
from just a beginner to a pro
You need a montage!

Thanks Mike. I am still hanging in there. I am feeling antsy as I think that I am ready to rock this run. I think Tom Petty said it best. "The waiting is the hardest part"

6 miles...What a beautiful day today as I set for my 6 mile jog. With a temperature of 75 degrees, I think that Mother Nature was giving us one last great day before she kicks us in the gut with the fall cold. I completed 6.23 miles at a 7:36 pace. It was an extremely easy run as I just wanted to take in the last bit of warmth for the year. I think that I am ready for race day and I know that if I can get to mile 20, and still be on pace, that I should be able to gut out the last 10k...

8 miles...I was supposed to run this 8 tomorrow, but today is a pretty big day. Not only is it my birthday, but it is also Wisconsin Badger Homecoming and the night that we celebrate Halloween. So I figured that 4 miles would be easier tomorrow than running 8. It was a cold this morning so I waited for the sun to come out and the temps rose from a winter like 28 to 34 degrees, before venturing outside. For the most part, this morning was a carbon copy of what is being predicted for my race day. Middle 30s at the start with winds out of the north northwest at 7-10 mph. It looks like Sandy will have passed through prior to race day, so I should not have any issues from that storm. Anyways, I completed 8.54 miles at a very easy 7:24 pace...counting down the days

Happy birthday! And good call on switching your days. I probably should've done that, given my weekend... Oof.

4 miles...An easy 4 miler this afternoon, as I finished week 20 of 21. I completed 4.26 miles at a 7:24 pace. Now it is off to the airport. Check out this week prior to my race. So, tonight I fly out to Los Angeles and am there on business until thursday. That is when I fly back to Madison, getting in at a little after 4pm. Then I turn around on friday and leave for Toronto an my race that morning. Nothing like going from coast to coast...

Well, the coast of Lake Ontario! Sounds like a good taper. Be sure to rehydrate after that long flight back to the land of cheese.

LA, huh? If you want a recommendation for cheap, delicious vegan food... No, but seriously. If you're near Silver Lake at all, search out Vegan House (I think it's on Sunset?). Get the "crab" rangoon.

I'll be in the South Bay (San Pedro/Torrence) on Monday and the rest of the time I'll be up in the Valley in Burbank and Mission Valley.

3 miles...the first of three short runs this week as I freshen up the legs for Sunday. I completed an easy 3.11 miles at a 7:18 pace. So far, the forecast is looking great for Sunday. Sandy will e gone by then and the winds will be calmed way down. My only thoughts are on my travel east on Friday. With all of the cancelled flights this week, I hope that the back log is taken care of by Thursday.

Re: 21 Weeks to a BQ
I had to chuckle - I went back and read your first post to this blog and found this:
It's ironic you are worried about the weather now but for a different reason. Hopefully the travel clears up in the next day or so. It's big business and everyone has good reasons to get travel going again.
