Proud Dad
OK y'all I have to share.
My eldest daughter Chelsea ran the Tupelo Marathon this morning in order to attempt her BQ (3:35:00). She's trained real consistently and hard, following the Pfitz 18 wk, 55 mile plan. I was concerned as the dewpoint this morning at 5am was 73 degrees and I know that absolutely kills me. We talked about pacing, strategies, hydration, fueling, etc. (this is her 5th marathon and has run Bos once already) but I couldn't really offer much comfort beyond "trust your training". She's been living in Atlanta so that was a pretty good training ground for the heat and humidity.
Result: 3:19:09 > FIRST FEMALE > 7th OA
I have a legit marathon champ in the family. Not just AG winners. That is so kewl.
Sorry - but I had to brag.

By the way, did she run the Crim?
No, she decided to pass on the race. She came in for a wedding and decided that the bachelorette party Fri nite had to take precedence over running a race. I think her friends got to her. Knowing she had Tueplo the next weekend it was an easy decision in the end.

Re: Proud Dad
Thank you, everyone, for all of your kind words and support. I really appreciate it! It's really weird to say I "won" a marathon vs. I "run" marathons. Tupelo is a nice little event, with great volunteers and a great race director. If you don't need a lot of crowd support, don't mind the humidity, and don't mind running through country roads with cows mooing at you, then I'd say go to Tupelo.
Unfortunately I couldn't recruit anybody to make the drive out from Atlanta with me, but the people after the race were all very friendly and a fun group to hang out with. And I drove up to Nashville after I showered to meet up and celebrate with some friends So it was definitely a great experience.
Thanks again for all of your responses to my dad's post!
