I would have to say that my music taste has a huge range from the Grateful Dead to Classical. I really enjoy a lot of the late 1800's early 1900's blues. There is no way I could go without Miles Davis and other jazz musicians. Nothing wrong with a little blue grass like Sam Bush or even some old school country like Merl Haggard. Like I stated in the first line I love my Dead and sure do missing being on tour listening to Jerry's amazing guitar on a nice summer night under the stars.

Re: Music That You Listen/Run To
I don't listen to music while running, as it affects my cadence too much. And I'm kind of a snob like that ("Joggers use iPods, runners run"). I know, I know.
I'm currently listening to a lot of Mumford and Sons. The standard rotating playlist includes: 80's hair metal (Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Warrant, Def Leppard, Steelheart, etc... not exactly hair metal, but AC/DC, too), AFI, some semi-recent pop/dance (Gaga, Ne-yo, Cee Lo), the stuff they played on the radio when I was a kid/teen (Smashmouth, Blink, Green Day, Semisonic, Incubus, RHCP), hardcore (A7X, Atreyu), the Used, Eminem, the occasional Dubstep song (if the drop is good), and some softer stuff (Band of Horses, Cavil at Rest [a band from my high school], Ligabue, Eddie Vedder/Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, John Mayer).
So, in short: a variety.

I remember reading that on your blog, I believe. I'm currently stuck on Little Lion Man and After the Storm. The former because it's reminding me to be a little bit bolder, the latter because I played it during the drive to my grandmother's funeral recently, and that day proved to be extremely emotionally significant, as well.

Re: Music That You Listen/Run To
I'm just glad to see that you listen to some of that 80s rock, Mike as you make me feel very old. Shoot, I'd been working for 4 yrs and had three degrees before you were born
As for me, I don't run with music much probably because Sony walkmen were huge compared to today's iPods, so I never got used to it. I do listen to the radio or a very loud, 70s/80s rock CD if I run on my home dreadmill because there I can sing along.

First and foremost, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your grandmother

Second, you express what I love about their music - it's emotional! I like your reasoning for liking Little Lion Man. Their songs are so perfect for running to me because I clear my head a lot of times when I'm out there on the pavement. The music just seems to draw the thoughts and emotions out even more....love it! I like Roll Away Your Stone, too. That one came on during my last run.
