Last Whine
Alright, for obvious reason, have your last whine if you want or recap your year of running. And don't waste time to plan 2013 like Kenny.

Re: Last Whine
Not a complaint, but a realization that should help me for next year:
My days of chasing times are currently on hold. Much more important things to focus on this year.

I'm old and slow. Hopefully, I'll get older still!

I'm old and slow, too. Wasn't a good year for running really but at least I got to enjoy 2 marathons.

I'm old and slow too, but looking forward to not feeling so old by April and running sub-4 at Boston.
Re: Last Whine
Crazy has turned out to be a lot more rewarding than I'd imagined. (Whine: Why didn't I try it before?)

Re: Last Whine
I'm trying to run a race in all 50 states and I had planned to knock off at least three more this year. I was only able to race in one new state, but at least that one was Hawaii. Missed Ohio and Virginia because of illness and injury.
2013 should be better. I'm hoping to run my first sub-3 marathon at age 45. Looking good so far.

This is the only year my fitness worsened.

Re: Last Whine
Only two good runs the whole season, and they weren't spectacular. The year started badly with constant hamstring injuries, I had a really bad chest infection five weeks before the London Marathon and, just as all my training was coming together at the beginning of October, I pulled my hip flexors. I had to stop running for eight weeks and am now in rehab - running slowly and just progressing from 1/3 to 1/2 weekly mileage. I'm older than all you old people, but I'm damned if I'll actually admit to being "old".

Now we need a "let's celebrate what running did for us this year" thread.

I honestly don't understand why arm possession is allowed to every one. What a horror!

Do you really think someone who would kill others would really care if a law said they weren't supposed to have one? Also a horror in China with the stabbings. There is so much sorrow in this world, it's incredibly tragic.

Great idea! I'm sure even those of us that had a really bad 2012 can find something encouraging to carry forward to 2013.Julie wrote:Now we need a "let's celebrate what running did for us this year" thread.

People make mistakes. Many of them are just mentally sick at certain degree, rather than hard core criminals(I can be very wrong on this) and they are under certain stress. The decent action is to suicide. But again, they are under stress and are chicken shits. Then we make it easier cause it's easier to pull a trigger than stab.

Having said above, I have been contemplating to have a gun myself for awhile and this may just expedite it sadly.

Training for and running three marathons kept me occupied and focused while I dealt with a really challenging year personally.
Here's to 2013!

Re: Last Whine
Hardly the year for me to train for a marathon, that didn't work out so well....however, my running was more of a stress reliever and for that I'm grateful. My running was good enough to get me seeded for the Indy Mini in 2013, so there's that.

Yeah and about twice as slow, too, so that's almost like 4 Jerry Marathons, right?

Re: Last Whine
No whining here, but some heat related setbacks.
Winter: took some cash for the winter trail series I've run the last 2 years. 2 first places 5K (20:02) and the finale 20K. w/ 2 second places for the AG Series win. total purse- $130
Spring:Boston meltdown finish 3:37, Lakefront 10 AG PR 10mi 1:05:49, 10k PR Bayshore 39:27/3rd AG (nice AG medal)
Summer: Humid 1/2 @ Oakbrook 1:31 disappointing but good training step toward Chicago.
Fall: Chicago PR 3:07:34
Pretty pleased overall, looking forward to Boston redemption in 2013.
