Yes, I know I'm a day early, but I'm thinking about it now and have some time.

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends (probably 5-7)? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

A day early is ok as I'm trying to avoid work again, so this will be fun to answer.

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in? -5F along the beach in Revere, MA a long, long time ago

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind? That's a toss up, but I think wind now that I have my Icebug shoes. I had all of those conditions earlier today including sunshine.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark? Dark

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights? Low 40s

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far? Yes, but not in NE Ohio as there are some trail 50Ks, but that is it and I'm not into that. Road races here start around the end of February and they are mostly 5ks until late March. I will race out of town in late February.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter? As few as I can possibly do.

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse? Ok, since I have been both, I would way rather run in the winter cold than the summer heat. Period. Even Atlanta winter's aren't that fun because it generally rains a lot and you are forced inside more than here. Running in and on snow is way better than in the heavy, cold rain.

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

About time we got one of these going... Thanks Jim.

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?
Just below freezing, I'd guess. Cycling in the low/mid-30s is much, much worse.

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?
Snow/ice.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?
Dark. Because it compounds the cold. But during summer, night runs are heavenly.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?
Below anything I've ever run in. Cycling, low/mid-40s when I start. They come off around 55.

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?
If I was racing, sure. 10k-HM.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?
0.

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?
Thanks. Summer heat sucks. Especially in northern California where the hottest part of the day is 2-6pm and it really doesn't cool off until 10-11pm.

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

Yes, I know I'm a day early, but I'm thinking about it now and have some time.

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in? 27 degrees at night

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind? Wind, so far.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark? cold. Dark ain't nothin'.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights? 30

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far? Sure, 50K. I mean, in Houston, winter ain't much for y'all that grow a beard in the winter time.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter? 0

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year Nice to be appreciated, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse? Heat is worse because you get sapped sooner.

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends (probably 5-7)? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

Yes, I know I'm a day early, but I'm thinking about it now and have some time.

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?

It just doesn't get crazy cold in this part of the country. I've done a bunch of runs with the temps at or below 20 but nothing like the single digit or below stuff you would face in New England or parts of the Midwest.

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?

Snow - easy. Ice - HORRIBLE. Wind - somewhere between.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?

Dark. Cold doesn't bother me too much but I hate running in the dark.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?

Below 35.

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?

Sure - I've done all distances. I love racing and running in cooler temps.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?

Because of the darkness issue, pretty much every weekday so 4-5 days a week. Definitely outside on weekends.

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?

For running, constant summer heat is much worse. But for real life, I'll take the warm temps!

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends (probably 5-7)? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?
Probably in the teens.

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?
Between those two, I'd have to say ice. But subfreezing and superhumid is more miserable, IMHO.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?
Cold and wet.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?
Usually the low 40s.

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?
Rarely. I did Tecumseh, which is technically late fall...

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?
Rarely. It takes pretty horrible conditions to keep me inside.

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?
The Pacific Northwest isn't usually considered warm at any time of the year, but we don't go all Ice Station Zebra, either. The persistent damp, penetrating cold of winter is worse than an occasional week of 95-degree summer heat.

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends (probably 5-7)? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

Yes, I know I'm a day early, but I'm thinking about it now and have some time.

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in? -12 windchill

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind? ice

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark? dark

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights? 40

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far? no

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter? As close to zero as possible!!

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse? Sorry, I am a cold person Sad

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?

Single digits. I don't do that any more - too hard on my throat and lungs.

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?

Ice is definitely the worst - coefficient of friction is key.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?

Dark. It really limits my ability to run on the roads around here. Poorly lit, if at all, winding, hilly, narrow = DANGEROUS. It gets plenty cold, but there are plenty of times where I could run just fine if it wasn't so darned dark all the time.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?

Not that cold! I'm a sissy. Depends how long. Below 40, if it is at all long, I'm probably wearing something besides shorts!

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?

Yes! Great race around these parts - Colchester half marathon - very hilly, rural, windy, cold.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?

All of the weekday runs (2 or 3, typically, in Jan/Feb) and the weekend runs, it depends on when I have time (daylight issue) and what the roads and rail trail are like (snow/ice). Fortunately, with the crazy warm windy rainy storm we just had, I may find a way to get a nice run in on the rail trail on Saturday!

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?

NA

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in? 20s

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind? Wind

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark? In light of my recent experience, dark

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights? 30s. If 40s I'll wear a long-sleeve top

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far? I'd be happy with any racing - of course our "winter" doesn't restrict much

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter? a few, but not because it is too cold.

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse? I love running in the heat so cold is worse...

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?

Years ago, I raced a 15k in 19 and swore I would never do that again. I did won a lottery of $25 though.

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?

Wind cause I am not going out for a run in snow or ice.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?

How dark are we talking about? I run on street of residential area, which can't be too dark.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?

Never. Long pant, I had it this morning around 36.

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?

Well, kind of race season for Texas.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?

0

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?

Heat worse cause I can always chicken into the gym just like you northern people do.

8. What should the team theme be when I run this race with a group of friends (probably 5-7)? The more ridiculous the suggestion, the better!

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in?

-25 windchill

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind?

snow/ice hands down

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark?

cold but just because I live in a city with street lights. It would be tough in the country.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights?

I don't even own tights so I guess -35?

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far?

I've run a couple of marathons in Feb. before.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter?

none

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse?

1. Coldest weather you've ever run in? About 25°F. I rarely run anywhere cold.

2. Worse to deal with: snow/ice or wind? Wind. It totally rots up my speedwork.

3. Worse to deal with in winter: cold or dark? Don't mind dark, so I guess cold, but I don't really mind that either, if I have the right clothes.

4. How cold does it have to be before you bring out the tights? Anything below freezing for a fast run, otherwise about 40.

5. Winter racing: yes or no? If yes, how far? I ONLY race in winter. Summer is too hot.

6. How many days a week do you end up on the mill in the winter? Call that "summer". Once or twice.

7. For you warm weather folks, first, you all suck this time of year, second, is the occasional winter cold or constant summer heat worse? Summer heat. I'm used to it, but I don't like it.
