I spoke to Hal Higdon at my 50k
Of course, I will be doing a RR on my Tryon Farms 50k yesterday, near Michigan City.
On Friday evening, the RD asked if I knew Hal Higdon and I said yes, and I knew he lived close by at Long Beach.
Hal probably had a drive of 5 - 10 minutes to get to the race.
He did the 5k and I came up on him when he was less than half a mile from the end.
At that moment it was very hot - in a open field and the sun was blazing.
I saw an old guy trudging along - basically determined walking and I realized who it was.
The back of his shirt said "Run like Hal". As I passed him I said " It says run like Hal because you ARE Hal!"
He was really tired and just said a little yes. I said I had been on his forum in the past and that was it.

Yep, crazy hot and it was poorly marked, here and there.
And there were some VERY unhappy folks.
They fixed it somewhat, but have to do better next year.
I am sending a list with my EXCELLENT suggestions soon.
The RD is very nice, but a little (or a lot ) ADD! : )
I really like him and I think he will listen.
Was that YOU at COL?
Yikes!
I was kind of stuck with that guy.
I met him in October when I filmed the route.
He is crazy out of shape and overweight, but a super nice guy.
He did one loop and stopped at the IT 100.
I ran into him at the race, but did not stay with him - he never could have made it to the end - even if the weather had been better. I hope he gets in better shape and tries again.
Are you trying it next year?

That makes sense, I'm not even thinking about 100 .............. BUT 50 probably I will do that training run again hopefully get two loops in,that course is great and it's free and everyone is soso nice! Have you ran at potato creek yet? I did the half out there I think it's April, but they have a 62K the course is similiar to albion I'm going to run that ,then do iceage again but only 50K. I loved that race but I need to get a lot more miles in and be better prepared. I'm considering Tecusemh, are you doing any trail runs around here ?
