Run your wieght in weekly mileage
Can anyone here do it? I think at 163 it would be a bit of a stretch for me. For whatever reason I was thinking about this on my way into work today and realized that most elite marathoners probably regularly run their weight since the men weight about 120 and the women are under 100.
Maybe that's the secret we've all been searching for....

Currently sitting at 174, there is no way that I could put that in that much in a week. Although, you are probably right about the elite marathoners.

Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
168.
Man, I don't know. If I could take the week off work and do nothing but run and sleep, I might have a chance. But I certainly couldn't touch that mileage with a normal routine.
I get depressed when I think about what the elites weigh.

Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
Being right around 140, if I were to do 10 in the am and 10 in the pm, I could get it done.
Hmmmm...I do have some vacation over the next few weeks/months.

I hear ya, but I couldn't imagine being 150 pounds or less. For me, it just doesn't seem possible...or healthy.

Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
I am 173 right now. I think I got a better shot of losing 70lbs and then trying to run 103 miles.
Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
All junk miles, I may be able to run 130KM.

See the thing is, if I was ever to take off a week of work for a running stunt, it would be to do the 100 miles + 100 beers challenge. I've already wasted too much time scheming my strategy.
Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
Dave - that sounds epic. I will support this venture with a case of beer.
I think I'm around 140. Maybe if I were in "race shape," whatever that means, I could do the 130. But I like Jerry's approach: km, not miles. I think most of us could do that.

That's all in one day, right? Let's see-- 4.2 beers per hour and 4.2 miles/hour running. Sounds pretty easy unless the beers are 32 oz.
You'd need to get the liver ready to process the alcohol more quickly and develop some tolerance over the preceding weeks, but it's not that difficult.
100 double chili cheesburgers and 100 miles sound more daunting.

Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
Being an old fat guy, I'd be happy with half my weight in miles.
Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
I weigh 160 and ran 161 miles last week, so I guess that's something to check off my "bucket list". Now to work on that whole marrying Kara Goucher thing...

Re: Run your wieght in weekly mileage
I like the idea maybe I will have to give it a try. I think I'm at 168 right now. I guess I'm nuts enough to try this one. If I do do it that would mean that there is a good chance I could always say i ran more miles in a week then Dave. Something tells me he is going to catch my 133.5 miles/week from this past spring.

Well, I haven't, but I could...67 Kgs, and I've done a few 60 mile weeks before, I'm sure I could sneak in another 7 miles or better yet, lose 7 kilos.
