Olson Repeats in the Heat.
Tim Olson repeats as WS 100 Champ in a time of 15:17:27 with second place taken by rookie Robert Krar finishing in a close behind in 15:22. And 41 year old Mike Morton finished in 3rd at 15:45 his first return back to WS since 1997 when he won a set the record at 15:40!
All of this in 100 degree heat sweet!!!!

Re: Olson Repeats in the Heat.
One of the young McMillan coaches that I met and chatted with at Boston was 26th overall and the 7th woman in her very first 100 miler. Her time was 20:28 - not bad for a first timer, I'd say.
Another former V-teamer, Nattu Natraj, finished in 29:12 and was 236th overall.
So far only 277 finishers are listed from a field of roughly 430 starters, and it looks like were maybe 100 that dropped.

Re: Olson Repeats in the Heat.
Olson was beat up this time around. He looked MUCH fresher last year. Rob had a blazing fast finishing lap around Placer HS's track and looked like he had quite a bit left in the tank. Also interesting was the difference in their body types. Olson's got quite a bit more lean muscle mass on him than Rob - not sure if/how that plays into racing, but I guess it could mean something?
During the post-race interview, the announcer was able to get Olson to choke up a bit mentioning how he carried his 10-month old son across the finish line. Pretty touching moment.

Re: Olson Repeats in the Heat.
I followed the iRunFar twitter account during the race. The heat looked oppressive. Truly impressive performance!
