Marathon Week!!
Marathon is at 8:00 this Saturday. Let's hope that the weather forecast changes. Right now it is calling for highs in the 30's with rain and snow!!!

Yipes! The forecast could still change - and maybe at least by dry and cold - but be prepared for the possibilities!

Re: Marathon Week!!
Wednesday will be a more accurate forecast than today's attempt for Saturday. But I would watch to see how much variation they tweak the forecast between now and Thursday. If they seem to pull or push some temperatures or probabilities on Saturday, then the factors haven't settled down.
Hope you were able to run some long runs in colder weather. A dry cleaners plastic bag makes a good and compact wind deterrent. Easy to cut holes for head and arms. I like them better than trash bags.
At least the wind speed is around 10 mph and not more. Travel to and from will be more important. After all, if you can't get to the race, the race day weather doesn't matter.

Memphis for Saturday and prior. Traveling there would be the interesting part.

Re: Marathon Week!!
Walmart has hooded zip up sweatshirts on sale (or at least they did a week ago, I got a couple for $7 each). I love those for starting line throw aways when it is cold because you can actually start running with it on and the zip up makes it super easy to discard around mile 1 when you are warmed up.
Re: Marathon Week!!
No material changes in the forecast since yesterday. Looks like this is the weather for the race. Safe travels and make the weather work FOR you during the race.ounce wrote:Memphis for Saturday and prior. Traveling there would be the interesting part.

Re: Marathon Week!!
I've been keeping an eye on the weather all week and there has been little change. Looks like it will be a cold one. I just hope the ice that is predicted on Friday doesn't mess things up.

Re: Marathon Week!!
Well, I'd look at the course for bridges that might be crossed and maybe check the website of the agency responsible for keeping the bridges sanded to check how or when they will respond (we don't use salt...ground up chat rock or similar).Jordan S. wrote:I've been keeping an eye on the weather all week and there has been little change. I would travel up there to arrive mid-day and hope you don't have to drive far to the start line.
You'll be fine. And you get to add a little spice for your first marathon report and when you're old, gray, and bouncing grandkids on your knees.

No worries about the ice. There will be people ahead to either warm it up or fall. You will know what to do.Jordan S. wrote:I've been keeping an eye on the weather all week and there has been little change. Looks like it will be a cold one. Good luck on your first!
