Fixing to taper
First marathon was cancelled in December. Signed up for another one for this month. We have our last "long" run this weekend and then the taper will start!!! I'm more nervous for this one because I haven't been able to train as much and I can tell it in my long runs. We had our second child in January and my wife decided that she didn't want any more kids so she scheduled me for the big "V" in March so those things have really slowed me down. I'm still looking forward to the marathon because it is my first one. If I can get this one done, it will be a load off of my back and I can relax more for future matathons!!

Re: Fixing to taper
Gratz on #2 and my condolences for now shooting blanks.
A bad or non-great last long run isn't indicative of what you'll do on race day. You do have the benefit of comparison to your last training cycle for Memphis, though. Like back to Memphis, weather will play a roll in this marathon, except it probably won't be the cold. You know how Spring weather in the South can be.
If you don't think you're in the same place now as you were in December, that may not be a bad thing. This probably will make this marathon much more of a mental race than anything else...and more satsifying.
Do the best you can, this weekend, and in 3 weeks (or two) you'll know. Just don't get into TAPER MAAAAADNESS!!! Somewhere, there's a thread about how not to be in taper madness.
