The OLD Hal forums
Not sure how many here go back to the old Hal form days... and remember the group that split off to create the tapermadness message board...
Well, one of those people passed away yesterday at the young age of 40. He was a witty and irreverent prick with a heart the size of Iowa and enough warmth to warm the whole state. Rich F. Scott, attorney at law, has left us.
Farewell, friend. Till we meet again.

Re: The OLD Hal forums
I'm still in shock. Not sure I can handle this next week with all the Boston stuff (if any of you saw the Anderson Cooper special the other night - that was me one of those runners running backwards and away up the course), my friend, Jerry and his state, Charles's predicament (although he seems good) and now Rich. God give me the serenity.......
Re: The OLD Hal forums
I don't remember him from Tapermadness, but he was Hal's board even after the Tapermadness split, I believe back when I first joined. If I'm thinking of the right person that is. Too young....certainly no rhyme or reason to it all. Sorry to hear this news.

Re: The OLD Hal forums
Nothing specific, but this article from the local newspaper said it was by natural causes. So young!

Re: The OLD Hal forums
He was in the hospital earlier this year (January) and one article seemed to indicate that he has some liver issues. I'm going to miss him.
Re: The OLD Hal forums
Rich's death has been tough on many of us. He has provided so many smiles, laughs, and good times to anyone that ever had any contact with him. He also had a heart of gold, which even as someone who thought I knew him well, I'm learning this weekend was much bigger than I had imagined. Whether it was as simple as texting people he'd never actually met in person to ask about them or wish them a happy birthday, to having pizzas delivered each week to another "internet" friend whose child has cancer.
I was lucky enough to get many late night texts from him over the last couple of months about topics ranging from his health to his escapades in Vegas. He had a way with words like no other.
He is going to be missed.
