Flow! Empty Flow!

This is why I push things that will make you a better runner & why I prefer not to stop for pics at a Disney race. We truly are a marvelous creation of God: http://psychology.about.com/od/PositivePsychology/a/flow.htm

I've experienced this a lot of times while running. Even during this Sat's long run. My most memorable was during a 25K with a friend of mine. I was training for a marathon & he talked me into this race for fun. We went really slow for us (9 min pace) for the 1st 5 miles chatting & watching many runners pass us. I finally said to him, "I've had enough of this - I'm taking off." For the remaining 10+ miles, I averaged a 6:30 pace over significant hills passing people left & right. I felt so alive & completely into the joy of running!

Low challenge + low skill = apathy; low challenge + high skill = boredom; high challenge + low skill = anxiety; high challenge + high skill = flow
