Just a brief summation of this event. It was humid and warm, close to 80F with a 7am start. Bright spot on the weather was the cloud cover for most of our time on the course, with the sun breaking through soon after we finished. It is a hilly but cool course, run partly on bike paths, suburban streets, and crushed limestone hiking paths. If you don't pace right you end up paying the price near the end. My long run partner, Javier and I decided to use this as a marathon pace run. We fought the temptation to race this and just tried to hold an even pace throughout. 1st mile was 7:20 then pretty consistent hitting our planned even splits gaining confidence as we passed numerous rabbits and surge monsters. Came in just over 1:35 with an average pace of 7:16. Definitely would not have been able to sustain that for a full with the humidity factor, but that wasn't necessary as we have 6 more training weeks until Chicago which we hope produce fall weather. hah Approval

Nice job given the weather! I will have to check out that race in the future as it is near where we live.

Hey Steve, it looks like you're in good shape heading into Autumn. Hot and soupy conditions take their toll ... but come a cool Autumn and you may be able to set a new PR or two. Go git it.
