Run or Ride?
1hr run vs. 2x 1hr bike ride...?
Alright folks, time for a poll. If you could either run 1hr before (or after) work or commute via bike 1hr each way, which would you pick for the purposes of training and why? The run is a maintenance run - junk miles - not a workout.

For the purpose of training for a running race? Then I'd run for an hour each day. For general fitness training? I'd probably bike.
There are no junk miles.

I would say that if I had the option and was training for a 50 miler, I would run. If there was no training involved, I would probably bike.

Why not both?

I like both - but I would choose run first especially if training for a 50 miler. In fact, I'd run both ways - you said 50 MILES, right?

That's probably 10-15 miles each way so I'm not sure that's a great idea or practical.
I'd probably alternate depending on the rest of the workouts planned.

Hahahaha, oh boy. The question was semi-hypothetical, as I don't have a commute that'd allow me to change into work clothes yet. But if I did, my first choice would be to run it both ways, though I'm not sure how I'd bring my clothes and lunch.

I think he said 50 miles, but I can't comprehend that distance...

run as often as you can. else bike. solve the conundrum before summer hits by obtaining gym (shower) access at or close to work. that's because biking may sweat you up after 9am here in summer.
