2017 Boston Marathon Tracking thread

It's around 66 degrees in Hopkinton and 70 degrees at Logan airport at 10:20 ET.  The weather per the NWS for today is: "Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. West wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph."

At the 5K mark,

Gobbles checks in at the 5K mark with 24:28, projected finish of 3:26

at 10:34 ET the wheelchair racers are about to cross the line with 2 racers.  Marcel from Switzerland in 1:18:03 or so wins and breaks the record.

Women's wheelchair wins in 1:28:17.  Manuela Schar breaks the course record.

Meb is in the lead pack at the 17K mark with a projected finish of 2:08:40

At the 10K mark:

Gobbles: 49:37, 3:29 proj

Lead women's pack has 6 in it.  The men's has maybe 12-15.  Rupp is in the lead pack, too.  Lead pack is taking extra water.  (No surprise there)

At the 5K mark:

Commentators are giving props to one of the women in the lead pack for running the tangents, rather than running with the pack.  To describe, this woman is running in the curb lane southbound (presumed), while the pack is running in the inside northbound lane.  The road is a 6 lane (3 & 3) with a turn lane median.

At 11:09 ET, the lead women's pack is now with the one running the tangent on a right curve.

At the Half:

Men's pack going up Heartbreak is about 3 runners, including Rupp.  Latest projection for Rupp is 2:11

Men at mile 22, 1:49 actual, 6 minutes off course record.
Women's leader is downtown and made the finish.  Not sure of time as I had a bit of business to take care of.

So Rupp came in second? Not bad for his first time at Boston.

Women's winner (Kiplegat) at 2:17 I think. She looked awful at 20 but her form magically returned.

Glad to see Schuey stabilizing.
