Five Worst Songs Of All Time
My opinion.
1. You Spin Me Round ( Like A Record)- Dead or Alive. You are so kidding me right? When I hear this song, I want to hurl. My wife loved it back in the day.
2. Do You Really Want To Hurt Me- Culture Club. I hated the band, so any song from them is horrible. This song is the worst of all. To answer the question, yes I do. LOL
3. Afternoon Delight- Starlight Vocal Band. My sister LOVED this song. No one knew what it meant. Ha ha. I am rocker kid from the 70's. Boston, Styx, Kiss, Ted Nugent. This was just the pits. Eww.
4. Hey Shirley, This Is Squirrely- The Nutty Squirrels. Why dear God, why? I have no words to say how horrible this song is. I get the CB craze, but shoot me now.
5. Mr. Jaws- Dickie Goodman. Look, I suppose the concept was good, but somewhere it went horribly wrong. This one was horribly stupid. I loved The Streak by Ray Stevens, but Mr Jaws was just terrible.

If you hate them so much, how can you still remember them, unless this is a metaphor for the 5 girls who have refused you in high school.

Ha ha ha. Well for your information, I do pick up on songs and their backgrounds. I am a historian you know. As far as the girls in high school, I only had two girlfriends, so there. LOL. I was too busy running, being a football manager ( I really loved it) and I had my studies to attend to.

We had to keep our grades up to stay on the cross country/track team. Plus, I actually loved school. It was Santa Fe, not Taylor high school. ( Inside joke at Joel. Taylor and Santa Fe were in the same district when I was in high school. By the time Joel got there, there were a classification higher...Santa Fe is still 4A and Taylor is 5A..and in another district) Ha ha ...LOL

I actually like the first 3. In fact, I like Culture Club very much. I've never heard of the other two though. Afternoon Delight played all the time at the swim club where I went every day from Junior high through high school, so I have great summer memories with that song in the background. Who cares what you or anyone thought it meant? I think Anchorman pretty much redefined its meaning anyway. Your dislike of the other two probably indicates that you also didn't care much for a lot of pop music in the early to mid 80s, as opposed to those particular songs.

Again, this is my opinion. I am an expert in my opinion. I just think it is funny that many folks did not know what it mean. No, I did not like pop music in the 1980's. I listened to metal, but I will say that respected and liked....Genesis, The Police, Asia to name a few. Again, this is my opinion.

1) Sussudio by Phil Collins--too repetitive and what's a sussudio?
2) Karma Karma Chameleon by Culture Club
3) Let It Be by the Beatles. For a great songwriting group, this piece was pathetic. The last 3 minutes of Hey Jude are similarly abyssmal.
4) Achy Breaky Heart--love the dance but hate the song
5) I Will Survive--this song was not meant to be remembered as a gay anthem.
6) That Michael Jackson Stevie Wonder duet--Ebony and Ivory---just stab my ears out now.

Re: Five Worst Songs Of All Time
I agree about liking - that word might be a bit strong - the first 3 listed. I'm also okay with Achy Breaky Heart, and I love Karma Chameleon. Shoot.
There are very few songs that will actually make me involuntarily reach for the stereo to turn them off. There are definitely disappointments from certain groups that I really like, so I'll generally skip those, but I'm not sure I dislike any enough to come up with a list of 5. Shoot again.

Re: Five Worst Songs Of All Time
I don't know the name of the song but it comes to mind seeing the title of this thread. It's that stoopid Gwen Steffani song that goes "Whoot Yeww" or something like that. They play it at almost every gawd-damned Twins game here and it sounds like muskrats being run through a blender. Can't stand her music. No talent hack.
Now, the rest of you...get off my lawn!!

I started this thread to have folks think. We all have opinions. You might not like mine, but they are mine. Millions of folks liked these songs and purchased them.

Hmm, do you like Muskrat Love by the Cap'n and Tenille? And yes, give me back the younger Gwen Stefani and No Doubt.

Come on, there must be some song that you've heard over and over again that you wouldn't want to hear again for many months(years, forever).
Or how about songs that you only like with the video but not when you hear it by itself? OWL City's Fireflies comes to mind. I love the video but grew tired of the one hit wonder of a song.

Um dude, I had a 3.89 in high school and I never studied a lick, I ran track/cross country too and most of us were A/B students...like I said, no wonder you are in academia! I learned in college that I needed to study...too bad it was too late (I guess that is what happens when you meet your future wife the first week of school), I made up for it with my MBA though.

Believe you me, I'm trying to think of some. Maybe I'll actually be able to make a decent contribution to this thread soon

Again... Great childhood memories! I actually had roller skates that needed a key!
I can't stand the screaming/shredding "songs." For example, if you can call this a song, I would classify it as one of the worst songs ever written. I can't believe my daughter had it on her ipod, which became MY ipod, and for some reason, it played every time I ran.

Re: Five Worst Songs Of All Time
Anything that is played on a country station. There are probably very few country songs I've actually ever listened to entirely in my lifetime. This excludes John Denver (who was popular in the 70's when I was growing up, and maybe even Achey Breaky Heart (which was virtually impossible to escape when it was out.

Re: Five Worst Songs Of All Time
#1 and #2 are Cat Scratch Fever and Barracuda.
Apologies to the OP, but a majority of history's worst music came from the 70s.
