Not a bad run on the dreadmill and I like the 3% inclines. They make things a little more challenging.

Kenny, I love that fact that when I want a little mental boost, that I can just come to your blog and see the quotes. There's a lot of deep statements, such as, "be the run you mean". Love it! You have to keep doing this with your blog, as I think a lot of people get some good use out of it! So thanks for having it!

Be a great day Smile

I feel pretty confident I can hit this weekends training runs. Just got to watch the heat/humidity.

I think they serve its purpose. I plan to go up to 4-5% and for maybe 3-5 x 1 mile.

Lisa- Thank you very much! You know service for me is very important and knowing I have touched 1 person means a lot to me. It is amazing how many people have PM'd me or told me months or years later how what I said has helped. It is shocking what people remember. I don't even remember 1/3 of this things I say.

The intention is to continue.

Re: KenZen - Running Alone Ain't So Lonely

Post  Kenny B. on Fri Jul 29, 2011 11:23 am

Quality:
Commitment - Intention today was to have integrity starting with how I think, speak and then by acting.

Quotation:
"A commandment is nothing more than a forced commitment. When you are committed your telling the world this is who you are. When you are commanded your are telling the world this is who they are" - KBaldo

Meditation:
5:45am - 72/89% humidity scheduled to run 6 and when I stopped my Garminsaid 5miles although I thought I went 6 so with about a few seconds of a break continued for another mile. Hr 135 and pace of 9:36 par for the course for 6 miles. . Pretty uneventful legs decent but certainly not fresh coming off yesterday's harder run.

I did feel I was in a trance today towards the later miles which must have put my mind at 6 miles when really only 5.

I have 4 more miles tonight and a hard weekend of running ahead.

Affirmation:
I am honoring the power of my word, keeping my agreements with myself and others.

Results:
Was an easy uneventful run and the surprise I guess was having another mile to go even though the mind thought I was done. I also realize I made a commitment to my daughter the other day about wearing my seat belt (believe it or not sometimes I don't) What is wrong with me? And since then I have been living that commitment and feeling much happier about myself. She is almost 7 and used to RAT me out to my family. Boy she really is more evolved then I am. Which I think is good sign I am doing something right. Now I have to commit to continue and not feel it is a commandment.

Upcoming
Tough weekend tomorrow 8 with 6 @ MP and Sunday 19-20. Sat looks to be the hotter morning with more humidity. But I think both days will be manageable. Headed to boardwalk Sunday for my long run. Looking forward to it.

Your daughter sounds like a bright kid and you are definitley doing something right. Good luck with your run this evening and your tough weekend ahead. Doing 6 of 8 at MP and then turning around and doing 19-20 the next day will be a huge confidence booster!!

Went out for 4 miles at 5pm 89 degrees hot. I used the affirmation: I am freeing myself of expectation, needs and wants and turning them into preferences, desires and goals. This helped me get through a very hot run with good ease. HR was out of zone a bit at 144 and pace was 9:17 a bit faster then I would have liked for a recovery run in this heat.

Legs felt surprisingly loose and I feel I should be ok for tomorrows pace run.

Re: KenZen - Running Alone Ain't So Lonely

Post  Kenny B. on Sat Jul 30, 2011 7:59 am

Quality:
Courage - Today's intention is to have the courage to accept the bad feelings as just feelings without judgement.

Quotation:
"Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating' there really is no such thing as bad weather only different kinds of good weather." - John Ruskin

Meditation:
5:45am - 73/85% humidity for 8 miles w/ 6 @ MP pace. I avg.7:32 for the splits a bit faster than MP and felt it the last 2 miles as my HR avg. 177 (close to LT 180) for those miles. Overall HR 171 for pace portion. On cooler weather days 7:35 sees appropriate but with the humidity 7:40 would work best as my avg HR for Marathons typically are 176. Tomorrow 19 to 20 miles at boardwalk give my legs a break from some the hills.

Affirmation:
I am courageously moving through the rick and changing landscape of my feelings, guided and protected by Spirit.

Results:
Chanting today's affirmation I had trouble letting go of some anger towards someone that owes one of my companies a substantial amount of money. I also realize I have to forgive myself as my reaction towards this person was not loving but that is hard to balance in business when debts are owed and they make excuses. Towards the end I felt a bit better and trust in the Divine Spirit in the process.

Amends to this person is still up in the air for me. Imagine making amends to someone who owes you 10's of thousands $$$. Amends has nothing to do with the other person and what they did or what their reaction may or may not be it solely done for the soul purpose of freeing yourself. To be continued...

Upcoming
Tomorrow is 19-20 on the boardwalk. See how they legs cooperate after today's harder run. Quality is Forgiveness. Good timing for that.

Below is today's run vs. a few weeks ago progression run where after 11 miles last 5 @ MP in the trails but temps where only 66 degrees and low humidity of 72%. So, I think with cooler weather 7:35 is very doable for me.

Love today's quotation about weather! It is so easy to bitch about the weather no matter what time of year it is. I will tuck that one away to hopefully think about next time I complain about God's great earth!

Good running in the heat dude!

Good run in the heat.

Forgiveness is tricky, I think, because I believe it's a process for most. You can forgive someone and have bad feelings come up many many times and choose not to imprison yourself by being bitter. I have been forgiven for much more than I can ever be asked to forgive someone else and that does help yet it's not easy.

Have a good long run tomorrow!

Very nice MP (or faster than MP) run today Kenny.
I give you tons of credit if you're able to set your anger aside when someone owes you such a huge amount. This has to be affecting your life in very tangible ways.
Good luck with tomorrow's long run.

Re: KenZen - Running Alone Ain't So Lonely

Post  Kenny B. on Sun Jul 31, 2011 11:59 am

Just a quick report right now on my long run. I will post my usual ZenKen report after I take another siesta.

6:00am - Boardwalk run in Belmar. Headed our for 19-20 miles. 72-78
with humidity 70's a
nd dropping. They had a triathlon at the beach which
was pretty cool ended up looking like a bandit running along with them
at certain points as the boardwalk was blocked off a bit. Cool part was
each time I did an out and back I'd pass right along side the finish
line! It was not an easy run coming off yesterday's pace run mainly the
last 4 miles coming back was all headwind and was looking forward to
finishing. Why 19.85 not 20. Simply, my car was right at 19.85 and
felt I accomplished my purpose. After went into the ocean for swim and
took about 20 min siesta on the sand letting the water roll over my
body. Just awesome. HR 164 was out of my zone a bit but all considering
it was a good day. Pace 8:33 last few miles a bit slower. Sucked down a few breakfast burritos and headed to
BBQ later with some colorful drinks!

my view right at start of the run. not too shabby.

I agree - it looks like 7:35 should be doable as long as it is outside of this nasty summer (the summer that will never end apparently!). Thanks for the picture and it sounds like fun running next to a tri. Good long run knocked out today and the breakfast burritos sound good!

I too am impressed that you can lay aside legitimate grievances for the greater good. As has been mentioned, forgiveness is a process and one that sometimes needs to be repeated depending on whom you are dealing with. The peace of mind is well worth it of course even though it can be hard to see that when you're in the middle of a situation.

Great beach pic. And sounds like your running is going well also!Cool
