Longest "run" yet
Today I did a 14 mile "run". It was a bit warm here in southern Indiana.
It was around 75 when we left at 6:00 AM and I think 85 and 99 heat index when we got back home over 3 hours later.
I "ran" using a 3/1 run/walk ratio and that worked as well as it could considering the heat.
In May I ran the Indy mini in 2:16 and today I did 14 miles in around 3:15.
My marathon goal pace will be 9:30ish and today my average was 14 minute miles.
That includes the 1 minute walk breaks and a several extra longer walk breaks at the end.
I had to go really slow to keep going without a death in the family.
I never felt really overheated though.
We had plenty of ice water and I think I did a good job of hydrating.
But it was slow going or no going. And I am never fast anyway.
I am tired, but fine now. One small blister on my right foot - same thing happened in the Indy.
Got a band aid from the country store we stopped at at mile 8.
Still can't wait until fall weather! Good times though.

Nice job, the run/walk combination will help you prepare for Howl. I do the same thing on my long runs when I am preparing for ultras, especially in the heat.

Re: Longest "run" yet
Today I ran 10 miles - started at 5:15 AM - so I avoided the big time heat here today.
I am running in a 5K on Saturday morning, so tomorrow I will just take it easy.
I still want to get under 27:00, but I doubt that will happen because of the heat.
My long run next week is 17 and the week after I do my 8 hour ultra in Illinois.
And the Indy Monumental Marathon is 100 days away!
