Is it Stupid?
I would like to have my Garmin for the Warrior Dash tomorrow.
For those that have done like DWD or other muddy challenges, did you use yours?
How should I protect it? I thought clear tape but I think once it is wet, it will just come off.
Thanks!
Chas

I have never done this race but what do you think the purpose of having the watch in this type of event is? what is Risk to return on doing this? I would leave the watch home and run this without being a slave to Garmin. Bad enough they got us for road races/trails lets free our mind a bit.
Re: Is it Stupid?
I'd leave it home, too. Just have fun. Some of my fastest, most competitive friends race without a watch on and I bet this race will be just as enjoyable, if not more, sans Garmin.

I'd leave it home too. If you really think you need some sort of time mechanism, then use one of those ziplock bags, poke two holes in it, run your watchband through it and zip the top up. You won't be able to see it during the race if you're doing the mud pit first, but I suppose you could hit the on button when you started. I think these are timed somehow aren't they?
I've used the small snack size ziplock bags for my garmin when rain is expected.

Re: Is it Stupid?
The water and mud shouldn't be an issue. Garmins can handle a LOT of wetness.
Now, the flaming pit, on the other hand....

Re: Is it Stupid?
Chas,
Here is what you should do. Bring the watch and leave it in the car. Then told Tim it is ruined during the race. Tim will have to buy you a new one. You sell this one on eBay to buy Tim a lap dancing as b-day gift. Everyone wins.

Re: Is it Stupid?
I would leave it at home - looks like something that might snag on a rope or something? Hate to mess it up during the race - might be better to wear an el-cheapo watch for the race.
Not that this refers to you, but I had a college prof that used to tell us "there are no stupid questions, just stupid people that ask them". Always cracked me up....
Best of luck - should be loads of fun!
