Post  Gobbles Sun Sep 11, 2011 12:09 pm

Monday: 10K Race = 37:47 (5th Overall / 1st AG / 1st Team) Warm, humid, and with a 7.50-10 mph headwind on a point-to-point course = No PR [~7.6 Miles]

Tuesday: Easy Group Run [8 miles]

Wednesday: Mid-Week kinda long run [12 miles]

Thursday: Tempo Run [8 miles]

Friday: Very Easy Run [4 miles]

Saturday: 5K Race = 17:06 (5th Overall / 1st AG) Great conditions and course to PR. WU+12 Easy Miles [17.3 miles]

Sunday: Progressive Long Run [20 miles]

Week: 77 Miles

Overall, a good week. Started with a less than stellar race result, but came together well. 3 runs over 12 miles, 2 races, and one tempo run makes for a very complete week.

Not too bad a week but I was pretty tired this morning for our ATC Ekiden Relay. The weather was rainy at the beginning of the week, cool in the middle, and warmer today. Since I was the last leg of the relay, it was 78F when I ran.

Mon - 8 miles consisting of 5 x 1 mile

Tues - 6 easy miles with striders

Wed - 7 mile Progression Run (9 min down to 7 min). Done on treadmill due to rain.

Thurs - 5 recovery miles

Fri - 18.2 miles Good run and felt strong

Sat - 7.3 miles with Half Marathon Training Group. Led the front of the Intermediate pack so it was like 8:35 pace.

Sun - 3.5 miles @ 7 min Pace on my Relay leg plus 1 mile warm up with striders and 1.5 mile cool down

Total for the week: 57.5 miles

Congratulations on the age group wins up above!

Chicago training. This was a high mileage week because last week's long run was pushed to Monday to be a part of a Labor Day half, and then also I ran an unexpected half marathon today as recovery.

Mon - 18.6 with 13.1 half marathon (7 miles @ MP, then speeding up a bit)

Tue - rest

Wed - 7.2 miles

Thu - 10 miles with 10 x 40 second pick-ups

Fri - 5 miles recovery

Sat - 24 miles with last three at pace

Sun - 13.1 miles recovery (if that's possible) - Chicago half marathon

WTD - 78

About 70 miles again with the highlights being a mid-week long run with 20 * 30 seconds hard mixed in plus a 13 miler with the last 11 @ ~MP and the last mile at 6:20. That one nearly killed me. Oh yeah, I took a day off too. I needed it.
