Bad week . . .

M - 5+

T - 5+

W - Off. Trial.

T - Off.

F AM - 6+. Hung over after 4 day murder trial. PM 6+. Hung over still. One of those hang overs. 2 mile warm up + 4 mile race. Clock time 27:58. Garmin time for 4 miles 27:44. Pretty big difference.

S 8+ Was supposed to be 10+

S 11+ Was scheduled to be first 20 miler. LEG DEAD. Went from 20 to 18 to 15 to 14 to 11. Bad day to end a bad week.

But I WILL bounce back this week!

Step back week due to lots of things including very dead legs. Skipped a race today in favor of a long run on Friday because of the 50th and 18th Birthday party - good move.

Monday - Easy recovery 4 miles after relay race. Legs felt dead, warmer temps and humidity back.

Tuesday - 4 miles total consisting of 3 x 800 which was supposed to be 8 - ok at 3:35-3:38 pace but felt awful

Wednesday - Easy 7 miles with striders over hilly course; core work

Thursday - 6 mile run - actually picked it up in the 2nd half as I felt better

Friday - 15 miles @ 9 min pace

Saturday - 8 very, extremely, ridiculously hilly miles

Sunday - Rest; 3 hrs of tennis

Total for the week: 44 miles

Post  Seth Harrison Sun Sep 18, 2011 9:32 pm

Who was I kidding thinking I'd go an entire training cycle with no break down.....

Tuesday: 7 easy GA miles (8:32/mile)
Wednesday: 8 miles with 5 tempo, last tempo mile was 7:08 which is very fast for me
Thursday: 6 easy miles (8:43/mile)
Saturday: 6 easy miles (8:42/mile
Sunday: planned 18 miler ended at 3.3 miles when my right calf seized up

Total: 30.3 miles

It's not catastrophic, but it will cost me some down time. I'm almost positive it was due to running in much colder temps than I have all summer and going out just a little too fast without allowing the muscles to warm up.

Jerry, I like the way you think. The goal is to run faster races not just to run more miles in training. Some of you are confused or just don't care about the end results. Your Week in Training Sept 12 - 18 4044942068

It wasn't directed at you at all Dave. I just think some people lose track of the goal. Actually I think you are very focused on the goal and build your training as a means to an end.
