Ski Goggles for Winter Running

Post  Stephanie on Sun Oct 16, 2011 4:23 pm

Has anyone used ski goggles when running in the winter? I am wondering if goggles will fog up like sunglasses do when my mouth & nose are covered up?

Hmm. When I lived in Vermont, I used to wear sun glasses in the winter, along with my "ninja mask" (see photo) I didnt have problems with the glasses fogging up, but my mask also had some holes in it, to allow breath to escape. Maybe you need to look into something like this. I would think goggles would definitely fog up, and would be uncomfortable as well.

You don't need goggles for water running. You don't go underwater.

Nice! Maybe the vents in this mask will be exactly the solution I am looking for to prevent the fogging up. I'll give one a try. Thanks!

Uggh, water running.... just slightly worse than running on a treadmill, IMO. To me running in -30C (-22F) is the lesser of those evils Twisted Evil , and I really hate cold.

I also wear sun glasses in winter or run with my glasses on instead of contacts in if it is getting dark. They seem to keep things comfortable for me. I don't have problems with them fogging up.

Are ski glasses different than sun glasses? And what's a gaiter? I'll try anything to stay comfortable this winter.

Not a shoe gaiter, but one that you use for skiing. It is pretty much face or neck warmer and common for skiing in the NE.

And glasses for skiing are sunglasses with a specific lens for snow glare.
