Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Whoa Nellie! I am freaking out over the 8 mile MP run I did today. I've been targeting 13:10-13:15 pace, but today I ran the whole 8 miles with each split sub-13 and I enjoyed it.
I don't think I should take this run as a guarantee that I should be running sub-13 for the whole race, but what if I can do that????????? Am I shortchanging myself? I'm thinking about doing another 8 or 12 miles next week to see if I can do that again. Even though the marathon is on the 17th, I think I should run this distance.
Do you think it'll affect my race?

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Setting a half marathon PR 4 days before your marathon sounds like a great idea!!

You know you should keep the same training intensity (paces) as in your training cycle, but reduce the time (distance) in the last two weeks --- idea is to rest your body while keeping fit. You know the drill. No second thoughts.

Excellent. I'll start it tomorrow and again on Wednesday & Friday.Mark B wrote:Setting a half marathon PR 4 days before your marathon sounds like a great idea!!
(Author's note: Senor Kevin, this is a parody thread in honor of Lisa's Taper Madness meltdown in the weeks before the 2007 Chicago Marathon. This thread is dedicated to doing the taper the wrong way. I am doing as you have written. But to keep up the madness----)KBFitz wrote:You know you should keep the same training intensity (paces) as in your training cycle, but reduce the time (distance) in the last two weeks --- idea is to rest your body while keeping fit. I like you and all, Kevin, but what you're suggesting is 180 degrees away from what I know will work. This time next week, I hope to be doing P90X with my 2016 Houston Marathon finisher's shirt on.
I've done the stadium steps starting with the left foot. I haven't done the steps starting with the right foot, yet. I'll get right on it!Michele \"1L" Keane wrote:Have you completed today's stadium steps yet??? Get to it
