You'll be fine. Just watch out for those scary (insert Trump or Clinton or ghosts here) out on the course!

Thanks all. Taper was kind of a joke, training wise. This is going to be an interesting run.
And yeah, I strongly considered a vulgar and politically-fueled shirt, but decided against it.
On a positive note, my homebrew turned out pretty good. Tasted it a bit early - still flat - but oh well.

Good luck this weekend, Mike. Here's hoping it's memorable in a good way.

Re: Nirodha sacca
Well, I think I can sum this race up in a word: LOL.
In short - it was warm but beautiful, very beautiful, but I knew at mile 15 that it was gonna be a grind. I figured I could still eke out a 3:45 finish (was on pace for 3:30), but my left knee got twingey around mile 20 and forced a lot of walking. I guess training would have been a good idea. In a bit of pain - the bad kind - today, but better than yesterday.
At least the medal is damn cool.
Done with distance for a while, I think.

Good job getting it done, Mike. I hear you on the "done with the distance for a while" bit, though. Time for a nice relaxed trail ultra!
Hope your knee stops cussing at you soon.

Congrats, Mike. Hiatus' are great - I took one for 13 yrs from Marine Corps in 1987 to Chicago 2000.
Re: Nirodha sacca
Sounds like you earned that medal! Glad to hear you stuck it out and finished. Give your knee...and your body...time to rest and recover and then go after what ever goal you choose next.

Re: Nirodha sacca
Thanks, all.
Mark - you may be onto something. Just replace "ultra" with "solo run done on a whim."
Mom - yeah, but you got your sub-3 before your break, so you earned that 13 years.
Nancy - recovery? What's that?
---
Did two short recovery runs this week. Whole left leg is a little wonky but nothing that more time and easy/low mileage can't fix.

Still here. Still farting around. Still running some.
That's about all I can say with certainty right now.

Sometimes, that's enough.
