Pat Porter RIP Empty Pat Porter RIP

Pat was an 8 or 9 time US XC Champion and a pretty humble guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1985 in Raleigh, NC after XC Nationals in an elevator at the host hotel. We were all covered in read mud (it rained) and debating how to get it out of our socks! He then joined the masses later that night at the post-party in the hotel lobby. Just a nice guy and a great runner.
