Quote Of The Day
"I feel good. My workouts have been great. The course is fast, so maybe I can (go under 60:00). I will give a hard effort."
- Dathan Ritzenhein talking about his plans for this Sunday's Rock 'n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon. The 13.1 distance seems to be the best distance for Ritz and Ritz has said all year he's in great shape, but hasn't had a great race yet. Will he do it?

Re: Dathan
Not a chance. He's too focused on the marathon to uncork a 59:xx. That's just him giving Rock 'n Roll a good quote as a thank you for the ridiculous appearance fee they gave him.
I say 1:02:35. Then runs 2:08 in Chicago.

Yes. Current PR is 2:09:55 from the Trials last January.

For Dave-o, and the other Dathan lovers...............

Actually, this is an excellent article regarding Ritz and Chicago and it makes more than perfect sense. To stay and be competitive is really what it needs to be about when you are an elite. Simple approach that was taken by Meb in NY and the Olympics. Interestingly, I read an article yesterday about Meb's run at the Olympics - he actually thought about dropping out at 15 miles, but he knew that Hall and Abdi had already dropped and he felt that was not in the "spirit of the games". He was actually taken through the airport in a wheelchair since his feet were so beat up (blood blisters from the cobblestones - and maybe those Sketchers shoes ). He said he is good to go for NY this year!

Big words from Dathan. Is he FINALLY going to run the time he's 'supposedly' capable of?
I hope so.

Agreed - the more I learn about him the more impressive he is. Hope Dathan fulfills his dreams - the image of his finish at the trials was heartbreaking...

Ritz ran 2:07:47 or so. Not too bad and a huge PR.

Re: Dathan
Yeah. He ran really smart it appears. Was on 2:06 pace until about 35k I think.
