Indiana 100 Miler
I just want to make things positive around here. Good luck to Tim and to Charles! Have wonderful races! The weather is supposed to be cold here, so I'm guessing there as well, and I hope it isn't too muddy.
I will be working at the North Coast 24 Hr here in Cleveland - so I'm hoping to heal a bit more by working a race.

Go Tim and Charles! If you're following the race, keep an eye on a runner named Scott Breeden. He's a mutual friend of Tim, Wendy and Charles (and I've met him, myself) who is an up-and-coming ultra racer. He's going for the win in the 100-mile race. Should be exciting.

Re: Indiana 100 Miler
Just heard from Wendy:
Tim finished in 8:47. The course was completely flooded. Wendy said she ran the last 17 with him. "The most mud and water I've ever run in. Sooo cold."
Charles did 33 miles before the RDs talked him into stopping. "He wasn't moving fast enough to stay warm, and hypothermia was a legitimate concern."
Sounds like seriously awful conditions. Congrats to Tim, and also to Charles... both for getting a 50K done and not putting himself at risk.

Re: Indiana 100 Miler
Congrats to them both! I worked the aide station at a local 24 hr race this afternoon, and the wind was so cold off the lake, that many of the 24 hr runners changed to the 12 hr option before the 9 am start. 10 had already dropped at 4:30 when I left (the race started at 9 am) because of the cold and wind, and we didn't have any water, just sand and wind.

How to make a crazy ultra distance even more insane...miserable weather! Congrats of course but I still stand by my FIRM belief that anything over 26.2 is lunacy and even marathons are a bit nuts.

Are their official reports out yet? I would really like to read them. It sounds like it was absolutely nuts out there!
