marathon shoe
Narrowed my marathon shoe down to two choices - curious to see if anyone has any thoughts/opinions...
a)Saucony Kinvara 2s
or
b) Adidas adiZero Boston 3s
I've done long runs pretty comfortably with the Adidas shoes but also love the Kinvaras - haven't done any runs of over 16 miles in them (mostly because I have a new pair I've been holding back for a race some day - my other pair is about shot). Bostons are a good shoe for me too. Don't think I could go wrong with either one, but I'm beginning my pre-race freakout over stuff that really doesn't matter
Thoughts?

Re: marathon shoe
Between the two, I would go with the Kinvaras.
Kinvaras provide a smoother transition for me at speed than any Addidas shoe ( including Adios 2 and Hagio both of which i have or owned.)
I run in Kinvaras, but normally don't use them in races.
For races I use A5s or Flyknit Racers.(I just added NB 5000s, crazy light.)

Re: marathon shoe
Since you're pretty split on them, pick the prettiest one or the one that looks good in jeans or shorts.John Kilpatrick wrote:Narrowed my marathon shoe down to two choices - curious to see if anyone has any thoughts/opinions...

Re: marathon shoe
I'd go with the lighter ones, which I think are the Kinvaras.

Re: marathon shoe
I've never tried the Adidas Bostons but I think the Kinvara 2 is a great shoe.
I personally go with the lunar racer 2 or the spira stinger. I haven't purchased marathon racing shoes in awhile.

Re: marathon shoe
I guess I'm in the minority because I'd go with the Bostons as I believe the Kinvaras are a low drop shoe and if you aren't used to it, it may be a problem later in the race?? The Boston 3s are also my marathon shoe of choice ! I'm wearing mine in Indy next weekend and I think Savannah is next weekend too! We can be virtual twins.
I came back to add that with your history (limited as it is) of injury, I would shy away from the Kinvara with its 4mm drop until you had more time on your feet with them.

Re: marathon shoe
Kinvara 2's. Pictured on left @ half marathon b/f I PR'd in them in Chicago last year. Only got about 200 miles in them before the uppers split on sides. still great for racing. Can you still find them? Don't like the 3's as much.
