Turkey Chase Chicago
8K Turkey Chase Thursday morning. Kind of a tradition. Lakefront was cold and windy, brrrrrrrrr! 15F w/ wind chill. Brutal on the out with headwind and wind aided coming back. My wife and daughter ran. My state CC qualifier is still in recovery mode and yelled "daaaaaad," after the first quarter mile. So much for the fun run, I just wanted to get done as soon as possible. My friend Bob was in full turkey costume but with the costume many of us weren't chasing him even though he's relatively fast. My daughter learned that dad doesn't do fun run especially when a number is pinned on and it's colder than a witch out. Final results 32:43 AG win and apparently some sort of gift certificate to the running store who sponsored it.

That had to of been brutal! I'm just not acclimated for this cold weather yet. Did your daughter beat you in?

She kind of jogged it, all bundled up in 39:00. Her PR at the State CC meet was 19:19 for 3mi so she mentally decided adding 2 miles at about 6:30 pace was not feasible even though she could have probably done it.dot520 wrote:That had to of been brutal! For you, as a local, to say it was 'brrrr' cold up there, that's saying something to this Gulf Coast boy. Gratz on the AG win! I guess your daughter couldn't text during the race? She must learn to adapt.
