Yeah, another PR. Jeez
This morning was the 3rd race in the Houston Marathon Warm-Up Series prior to the Houston Marathon on January 19. It's the Sugar Land Finish Line Sports 30K Run in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb southwest of Houston.
I ran this race back in 2005 in 4:09:21 or a 13:21 pace. This morning, I ran it in 3:43:22, a ~26 minute PR or an unofficial pace of 11:54, an improvement of 1 minute and 27 seconds per mile. My first half pace was 12:16 and my 2nd half pace was 11:32. It was almost perfect running conditions with 32 degrees, sunny, and a slight wind on this 3 loop course through a residential neighborhood.
My last PR was the HMSA 25K in November, where I paced at 11:55 and had a PR of almost 10 minutes.
I have been experiencing, and receiving treatment, for a calf and foot bio-mechanical issue. I had no pain related to those afflictions and even the new pair (38 miles) of blue 'n green Saucony Kinvara 4's were transparent to the user.
I have a 24 mile long run left to do around Christmas, then the following week will begin the 3 week taper period. If most of the variables are either insignificant or in my favor AND I'm well on race day, I don't see why I can't have another PR at Houston.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Yeah, another PR. Jeez
Thanks very much for the kind words!
And just so I don't have to search for these times of past Houstons, when I write the race report for 2014 Houston next month:
2013 6:09:22, 14:08 pace
2012 5:45:11, 13:09 pace *PR
2011 6:12, 14:20 pace
Goal time for next month is 5:14:00 or an 11:59 pace. There's just something snobbish about saying, "I finished the marathon with a pace of 11-something." rather than saying, "I finished the marathon with a pace of 12 minutes."

It do. It do. Now if I can just keep all the pieces together and functioning until after that marathon.

And 'so far' are the key words in that sentence. It's been a fun training session SINCE the hot weather ended.
And thanks, too.

Nice Doug, that is a huge chunk of time you have taken off from the last time you ran this race!

Thanks, Schuey. Now, if I can just get through Taper Madness, I'll be decent.
