2014 Chicago

With the registration quickly approaching, I was wondering who is planning on running?

I am thinking about registering for what would be my 3rd Chicago Marathon...

 Jerry is not, in case that's what you wonders the most

But if NYCM rejects my "guarantee" entry...

I'll enter the lottery. I'd like to have a better Chicago under my belt than the disastrous meltdown I had on a warm day in '08, and it just happens that I'll be at a conference for work in Chicago that concludes the day before the race, which would take care of my hotel and airfare! But no guaranteed entry for me.

Very much divided on signing up for my 5th.

I haven't decided even though I would guaranteed entry, but not because I am fast.

No, I think I'm headed to Hartford on 10/11 as I need CT in my state quest and this one is supposed to be a decent and somewhat fast course.  Michael? Alex? might I see you there?

Hartford is a good race - pretty flat and relatively fast. Nothing fancy. Well run. Weather is usually decent.

Alas, I will not be there - I have to be in Chicago that Saturday whether I get into Chicago or not, for work.

Well if I do sign-up it would be my 10th in a row. Sign-up is tomorrow on Lisa's and my anniversary, still don't know if I will do it. I have some pretty strong feelings and opinions for big city marathons right now but then again opinions are like assholes everyone has one!

There are many and it depends on what you want course-wise.  I can; however, recommend Monumental in Indy on November 1st.  I really liked the course, you can stay right on the finish line for not a lot of money, and the city is rather nice.  I'm sure that the Millers will be there too.

In the Chicago and Wisconsin area Fox Valley is a nice marathon 3 weeks before Chicago and Milwaukee is the week before. Grand Rapids Michigan is in that October time frame too.

I ran the half at the Monumental one year and really liked it. Stayed at the Holiday Inn a few blocks away from the start.

I have run the Fox Cities Half Marathon for 9 years straight now...It's a great race!!

I am out for Chicago 2014...at least running it, as I will be running the 2014 Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon...

I'm registered for Milwaukee as well.

Chicago lottery is today, and am happy to report that I am in.

That's good news. I will be in Chicago that weekend for a conference anyway, and would have been very bummed if I didn't get to run.

Now, I just have to stay healthy through the training cycle...

I am out of the Chicago marathon to do a November marathon in hopes of increasing the odds of much cooler weather. However, I will attend any dinner we have.

I'm in as a time qualifier and i got my e-mail to register today saying I got in through the lottery! I feel violated
