So who all is running this year?  I know Michael Young and 1L are running.  A couple of my friends here in California are running and I am totally jealous.  I sure wish I was there again this year...

Good luck to all!

Thanks, Tim.  Schuey is running I believe.  My number is 21753 in case anyone cares.  Weather is expected to be abominable - rain, strong headwind and colder temps.  I guess it won't be 90F

Good luck and stay safe Michele.  Control the things you can on race day...the weather is out of your control.  You've been doing this long enough to set appropriate goals depending on conditions on race day so I've got no doubt that you'll do fine.

I can't follow the race as it's progressing but will definitely check results and watch some of the coverage later in the day.

Part of me still wishes I could be there...even with abominable weather...

I won't be able to track either.  Driving from western NC back to DC on Monday.  We're trying to figure out how to livestream the race for the drive What a Face

Good luck to everybody out there. With the weather forecast being one it is, it sounds like it's going to be one to remember.

I took a few minutes and looked up bib numbers.

Michele's was easy as she gave it to us.   21753
Michael Young (Mountaindog)                   1766
Martin Shumacher (Schuey)                     5838
Steve Bothe (Gobbles)                             2197

I won't be able to track the race but will check results as soon as I can.
Weather sounds miserable.  Hope everyone has a safe race.
Good luck everyone!

Just had a chance to check in (Des!), and here's what I've found for our running friends.

Michael "Mountaindog" Young WON HIS AGE DIVISION (M 60-64) with a finishing time of 2:59:53. Way to go, Michael!

Martin "Schuey" "The Bull" Shumacher came in strong with a a finishing time of 3:13:12.

Steve "Gobbles" Bothe finished not too far behind at 3:20:59.

Michele "One L" Keane was cranking out consistent splits, with a time of 2:15:09 at the 25K split, with an estimated finish time of 3:48.

Great job, guys, and go-go-go Michele!

Gratz to the fearsome foursome!  I wonder if Miche1e has ever had warm wine to warm her soul?

And Michael won his age group.  Had to happen sometime!

Good job on the tracking, Mark.  There's a future in tracking for you, I just know it!

Wow...those were some impressive runs in miserable conditions.  Michele told me her goal was just to make sure she qualified for next year...she did that and then some.  And an AG win for Michael...how impressive is that.  Nice runs by all.

I watched the start this morning and set the race to record before heading out for my strength class and masters swim.  Even though I know the results I plan to watch the race finish this afternoon.  Impressive results for the American women!!!!!

No one could impersonate Jerry successfully...it has to be him!  Hope he stops by more often.

We've had a couple surprise visits the last few days...fun!

Jerry is indeed alive.  lol!

A month before Boston 2015, which I did 317, I had a 122 half marathon, so I was in a sub 3 shape. A little disappointment considering I had a 259 in Boston 2014. Then everything went downhill. My last marathon is Houston 2016, 301 in a perfect weather. I quit marathoning and focused on half. It only got worse. My best half since is 124 in Dec 2016. My last half is 126 Dec 2017. My weight is 18 lbs heavier.

So I quit running this year and went back to play soccer at 50 division.

My daughter is 16 and two years later when I am empty netted, I may start running again. No promises.

I deleted my facebook app several years ago, after I realized I spent too much time reading others people's posts and political ads.  lol!

But I am still alive and never forget the good old times.

Love you all!

Michael is a stud.  Got together with Seth and Schuey after the race at Schuey's hotel and it was good to see everyone for all times sake.  We missed Michael, but I'm sure he was celebrating his superb AG win and sub 3 in those monsoon conditions.  Here is a picture of us all.

2018 Boston Vteam_11

As for me personally, I am quite pleased with my race.  Slowed down in the end as I was getting a bit cold, and had two funny experiences in those last few miles where I had to stop 2x for crazy reasons.  I stopped somewhere in the hills to have a volunteer open a gel for me since my hands were so cold and wet that I couldn't do it, and again just after the mile 23 sign as my left shoe came untied.  I have never had a triple knotted shoe come untied in a marathon before.  I was so wet, cold and with non-working hands/finger - I had to get a volunteer to tie my shoe!  At that point, I was just going to finish as I knew I had the sub 4 and even sub 3:55 which gives me a more than adequate cushion for next year (I think that 17 min will be well within the window - lol.)  My quad muscles were also quite cold - not tired or cramping, but freezing!  I guess all the push into the wind and driving rain was starting to catch up.  When Seth came to my hotel to get cleaned up, he was near hypothermia as he had to walk to gear check and then back to the finish line area to get to my hotel.   By far the craziest conditions I have ever run a marathon in.  When you made the final right turn onto Hereford St - it was so covered with discarded clothing, heat sheets, ponchos, etc. that you had to be careful not to get caught up in the crap on the ground and fall.   If I had not been so ready to just be done, I would have tried to get out my phone to capture it as it was unbelievable to see.

And here I am at the turn by the fire station at the start of the set of Newton Hills:
