Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
I never realized how tightly correlated by 5k through half-marathon times are:
5k = 82.25
8k = 82.12
10k = 82.45
10 mile = 82.91
Half = 82.94
Boo!
Mar: 80.81
5k = 82.25
8k = 82.12
10k = 82.45
10 mile = 82.91
Half = 82.94

5K - 69.26
15K - 65.46
1/2 Mar - 65.27
Marathon - 57.34 Like Kenny I hope this gets improved big time this fall.
I don't have a current 10K time.

5k - 68.7
half - 62.88
full - 62.05
only 3 distances I've raced. My full is so low because my PR was a horribly windy day that I didn't adjust for and crashed and I my last half was 13 months ago so it's lagging a bit. I need to race more.

Mine appear pretty close until you consider the fact that both the 5 and 10K were run at an altitude over 6,000 feet and the marathon was in Chicago.
5K - 71.3
10K - 71.4
Marathon - 70.6

26.2: 66.49%
Recent 10k TT could go a couple ways, if you compensate for the hills. But 69-71%

Matt, this is interesting. Wouldn't yuo expect a linear line down for a fast-twitch person? yet you go down and then up. Maybe you are slacking in the 10K races

The bold print is the absolute truth. That, and I don't run them very often and never in great shape for a 10K.
I really don't think of myself as a fast twitch person. I was needed more for middle distance races/relays in college so that's how I trained. I've had a lot more chances to run miles/1500s/1600s than any other race too, so that helps. My 5K PR is doubling back from a steeplechase (and a 5M cooldown run), 8K is on a hilly XC course, and I didn't really run the longer races until the last few years. If I would have run more than 25 miles/week in my 20s, those PRs would probably be closer to the mile time.

This is beautiful....everytime you complain about more mileage I'm just responding with this chart.

Small sample but interesting so far that for most the shorter the race the higher the percentage.

Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
I'm much better in the shorter races...Someday, I will run a 90% for the Half Marathon!!!!
My top 5 are all 5k's... 91.78, 91.26, 90.95, 90.52, 90.49
Next 5 are 10K 90.45, 5K 90.14, 20K 89.83, 5K 89.75 & 5K 89.68
All of these were run in the last 3 years. Best HM is only a 89.45, best marathon is a 75.72. Ha!...
What a difference 10 years makes...I could barely run an 80 in a race ten years ago. These days my tempo's are 84-85% ! Un-freakin-believable...

You're a big time inspiration Dave! Anytime I think I'm done getting faster, I think of you still out there busting your tail after being in the sport so long.
Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
I don't know if I've raced often enough to get good set of data points to compare, but it looks like there's enough data to reassure those front-runner types that their spots on the podium are safe, at least from me:
5k: 58.14%
Half: 60.61% (first half of marathon)
Marathon: 59.5%
5k: 58.14%
Half: 60.61% (first half of marathon)
Marathon: 59.5%

Is local class seems so well local. How local like one zip code or county. Lol

Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
I think you're giving me a boost I don't deserve there, John. Isn't it 60-70 = local, 70-80 = regional? I'm 66. But I'll take 70

At this point, Mike, I'll happily benefit from a little grade inflation.
