Running is better than cycling because....
OK no offense to the tri types here. Truly amazing stuff, but I consider you all to simply be confused runners lacking focus!
But I know some cycling snobs that are quite annoying, so I am going to be a running snob.
Running is better than cycling because....
You still work going downhill.
You don't have to wear silly clothes to fit in.
Running is easier on your taint.
What else?

I don't know, but I approve of any post that references the taint.
Although, considering your dad is a doc, I would think you might refer to it as the perineum. Actually, there's no way I would think that.

you don't fall down when you stop and forget to clip out
you just go, no unlocking the bike, grabbing your helmet and all that.
you can wear yourself out faster and get all those endorphins coursing through your body sooner.

I see this has started horribly and has taken a turn for the worse. I blame tapering!

Running isn't all about the technology and you don't need to spend a pile of money for a decent pair of shoes. Runners don't typically act like douchebags when a new runner shows up or asks questions. Cars don't hit as many runners (actually, I'm not sure about this, but it seems logical). Running makes you a better runner. Cycling only maybe helps a little. There is no (or very little) drafting in running and you don't have to run in a group of 100 people in order to keep up with the crowd. Runners talk at least in words that I can sort of understand.

And also, runners don't wind up doing stupid things like this:

I chaffed my taint once on a 20 mile run. I had new spandex on under a pair of CW-X tights in the winter. There was a stitched seem in the wrong spot. I didn't realize the damage until I hopped in the shower, but holy fuck, I never want to chaf my taint again.

Whoa whoa whoa, can I kill this thread?
But I know your pain - albeit mine was taint-adjacent, and lasted a week.

I don't know, I'm coming up with good things about cycling for every good thing about running you guys are posting...
But, one that you're all missing: trails. Sure, you can mtn bike some trails, but many are closed to bikes and open to runners. At least half of them up here are that way. Plus, you only yield to horses, and even then, they often yield for you.
