What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? Pacing my daughter to a BQ. She's young, that would mean I'd have to be really fast.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? For 2011 I hope to just keep running regularly. For 2012, it will be a sub 5 marathon and that will probably be tough.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?Born to Run.

What is your proudest running accomplishment?A PR at Boston 2010.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?Hal.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it." Total guess...Daniels???

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?
60 plus.
When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?I loved going to stay with my grandparents in their small southern Illinois town of less than 800 people.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?
Seeing school friends. Went to a Catholic school far from our neighborhood and in those dates parents didn't drive you places for things like play dates so I never got to see school friends during the summer.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?Tailgating at the Jimmy Buffet concert at Toyota Park tomorrow. My grass skirt, light up lei and Fins(our six foot blow up shark) are ready!!

Thanks John!

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be?
Ultimate, never to be achieved, accomplishment = sub 3:00 marathon.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012?
Sub 3:30 in Chicago (2011) and sub 3:30 in Boston (2012)

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?
I Gotta Feeling

What is your proudest running accomplishment?
First sub 4 hour marathon

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?
Rhondda (she's here but she's not here Smile

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."
Looks like Bill Bowerman said that. I guess it means we need to be damn fools! Looks like he got a lot of flack from other coaches for this philosophy, which is now widely a part of all training programs. (the rest of the phrase is "But you don’t. You work too hard and rest too little and get hurt.”

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?
70-75 miles is an achievable high weekly mileage for me, 80 is about the max my body can handle

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?
Wisconsin Dells, lot of fun stuff up there

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?
Sounds dumb but I liked learning, wasn't an athlete much

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be?

Making it through three marathon training cycles in a row without an injury. Ha!

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012?

Simply getting past the PF completely and back in shape for a decent fall marathon - my dream is pretty simple!

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?

Don't have one.

What is your proudest running accomplishment?

I felt pretty darn good about completing my first marathon.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?

What other site? Oh, that one. I don't want to play favorites...

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

I thought Dave-O said it. You learn something new every day. I would end it with "But you'd be wrong, you damn fool, you!"

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?

I cap out at about 50, so I'll leave it at that.

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?

I was one of 9 kids, and the only place we'd ever go was to my grandma's house in Saugatuck for a couple of weeks. By the time I got to be about 15, I hated it (just bored) and swore I'd never go back once my parents stopped making me go. Now I drag my kids 900 miles each way to go there for a week (but not this summer)!

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?

I do not recall looking forward to it prior to high school. As for high school, we drew from all over the city and suburbs, so it was nice to see guys (it was all boys at the time) I hadn't seen all summer.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

My 15 mile run in 100+ heat index weather!

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be?

Not sure anything would be! It seems it keeps on going. But 100 mile, B.Q., I tend to think each day I run is the ultimate running-related accomplishment.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012?

2011 - Sub 3:20 2012 Sub 3:15, 50 mile finish.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?

All these things that I've Done - Killers - but I don't listen to music while running

What is your proudest running accomplishment?

Today's run. I seem to not look at the past much when it comes to accomplishments (you are as good as your last good deed) and although I plan for the future I don't live in the future way to scary place to time travel.

I find running 3 marathons in 21 days to be pretty nice accomplishment.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?

Still pondering this question.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

Not sure what you mean???

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?

Anything more than I am doing. In this case 80 or more.

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?

Sleep away camp.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?

Not much!

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

Running especially Sunday's 18 and dinner after with Wife and bottle of wine.

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be?

I setup the ultimate goals twice, BQ and sub 3, and achieved both. Let's say if I can do it, I definitely quit goal. That would be sub 2:40. I don't see how that will happen at this point, so let me work on sub 2:50 first.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012?

If I can tough out this summer with consistent 60+ weekly mileage and take my weight down 130lbs, I will be golden. Otherwise, all BS. Running

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?

Forever Young and Remember the Name.

What is your proudest running accomplishment?

2:58:35 marathon.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?

What is other site? lol!

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...

Even a damn fool knows the answer. Shots

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?

I didn't have the concept of vacation when I was a kid.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?

I didn't really care one way or the other.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

I am thinking I have to do a 15, which I haven't done for a loooooooooooooooooong time. Oh lord. Sweaty

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? Not sure, but maybe at my age now it would be to see a marathon time under 3:30 again.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? Again, not sure. I just want to compete in my AG in 2012 when I turn 50. For 2011, I love to run NY under 3:40, but that might not be possible.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?

What is your proudest running accomplishment? Breaking 3 hrs in the marathon and/or running a 36 min 10K.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"? Probably Hal

Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it." Bowerman?

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage? 55-60 mpw

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity? We never did the vacation thing, but I loved my summer swim team and the after meet parties when I was a teen.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school? Seeing my friends from the other side of town.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend? My husband will be here and some friends from Toronto. And hopefully some rain!!

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? This is a tough one as I have already done Boston twice and ran a 50 mile ultra (not sure I want to do a 100 miler), so I guess to be able to remain healthy and continue running as long as I enjoy it

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? 2011 - 50 mile ultra, 2012 - ???

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)? I don't listen to any music pre-race, but if I did probably Born to Run

What is your proudest running accomplishment? 3:34:55 at the Twin Cities in 2009 which was my BQ, and probably will be my only one

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"? Hal

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

I think I cheated by looking at the other answers, is it Bowerman

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage? probably 60 mpw

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity? Vacation, probably the year we went to California and went to Disneyland. Favorite summer activities were playing baseball and practically living at the public swimming pool.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school? I never did look forward to going back to school

What are you most looking forward to this weekend? I am scheduled to do a 20 miler, but I am not looking forward to it. Probably spending time with my family to celebrate my wife's birthday.

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be?
Going out for a run on my 100th birthday.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012?
2011: First trail marathon. 2012: First 50K (or more?)

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?
We Will Rock You

What is your proudest running accomplishment?
Using the free Tehama County Fair admission I got for running the "Run to the Sun" 10K back in 1992 to go harass a cute female reporter from a rival paper, and eventually ask her out. Our 18th wedding anniversary is coming up in September.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?
Anything more than what I'm running.

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?
Vacation: Disneyland. Activity: Water fights with buckets and hoses. Squirt guns are so inefficient.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?
Seeing school friends again. That, and a new lunchbox.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?
Vacation!!

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? Fantasy: OTQ marathon Reality: Sub 2:50 marathon

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? BQ in Chicago, which should be within reach by October.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)? In The Air Tonight, it's enough to get me pumped but not so much that I charge out out the start at sprint speed.

What is your proudest running accomplishment? 2x state qualifier in XC in high school. An unbelievable experience and a tradition at my high school.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"? Hmmmm, not much really.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it." I knew the quote, I don't recall who said it though. I'll go with Biz Markie.

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage? This week! I think anything over 60 is a pretty big number.

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity? Disney World was fun and NYC was pretty cool too. I only vaguely remember the trip to DC.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school? Um, yeah, I didn't.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend? Being done with my 18 miler and the beer that will follow!

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? Run until the day I die

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? 2011 it is to break 3:20. Really would like a 3:15. It will be close. 2012 would have to first run 3:15 in the Spring and come back in the fall with a sub 3:10.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)? Action Man > Chilly Water > Pleas > Chilly Water. Widespread Panic

What is your proudest running accomplishment? 1. Starting; 2. My first five miler when at mile four I looked down at my feet and said "Shit! I'm running! I'm fucking running!" And realizing I loved it and I could keep going and going and going. 3. First marathon

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"? Ease of logging in!

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it." Apparently everyone says Bowerman. I will say Lydiard just to be contrary

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage? I think anyone who runs over 120 miles a week is nuts. I think 100 miles a week is "high mileage." The most I have ever done is 82. For my training purposes I think 200 miles a month, 50 miles a week should be the standard

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity? Not a vacation family. I liked swimming a lot. As I got older I played a lot of tennis and golf.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school? Someone said it earlier - new clothes, new supplies, new teacher(s).

What are you most looking forward to this weekend? First, spending time with my wife. Picking up the baby changing table, glider and crib. Maybe doing a long run tomorrow and hopefully if the stars align, racing on Sunday a.m.

I edited out the first question when I copied it accidentally. Right now my ultimate is BQ and also want to run 50 miler.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012?

This year, PR, but hopefully 4:05 marathon. 2012, nothing, hope to have a baby so I guess just run through pregnancy again.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?

can't think of one.

What is your proudest running accomplishment?

my 50K I ran last October.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?

I always like reading Nancy Clark's articles but right now I can't think of much. edit, Hal, I can't read right now, I thought the question said what.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

I can think of it, but I can't think of the spelling...

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?

55-65

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?

Our vacations were going to Grandma's house...but when I was pretty little we went for family walks in the summer living in northern South Dakota when it's a pretty short summer so I did enjoy the outside time when we had it. When I was 16 I went to Poland but it was a missions trip, not a vacation but it was awesome.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?

I'm a nerd but I loved the smell of new textbooks when they came in the mail (homeschooled).

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

Getting off work Saturday evening and giving my little princess a big hug!

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? My goal is to run a sub 3 marathon. I feel like I can "retire" from chasing running-related goals if I reach that.

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? See above! Hope I don't have to go into 2012 to get it...

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)? So hard to pick. I'll go with the first one that popped into my mind "The Adventure" by Angels and Airwaves.

What is your proudest running accomplishment? I guess just that I got off the couch and started 3 years ago.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"? I wish MVW had come over to participate here. And of course hearing from Hal directly was always great.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

Its a great quote but I don't know who it originally comes from or any more of it. But the key to training is pretty much all there.

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage? I always think of a 10 mile a day average (70 mpw) as being "high".

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?

We lived up in the Boston area but would come down each Summer to Ocean City, Maryland where all of our extended family was.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?

Just seeing friends that I didn't see every day over the Summer. Certainly nothing school related!

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

To NOT be working and instead just hanging with the family.

Happy Friday!!!

Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage? For me personally, 100 or more. In general, I consider 70 miles - i.e. 10 per day - to constitute "high" mileage.

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity? 8 days of houseboating on Lake Powell.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school? Going back to school always meant football season was about to start.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?
Bachelor party tomorrow: Suite at Arlington race track from 12-5; trolley with booze back to the city; dinner reservations at Hub 51; trolley out to the new casino; and then trolley back into the city. Gonna be a long day!

[quote="John Kilpatrick"]What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be?

Getting my BQ back!

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)?
I don't have one, but I have to admit, Sinatra's "New York, New York" at the start of the NYC Marathon is pretty cool.

What is your proudest running accomplishment?
Finishing the 2009 Philly marathon with a PR and BQ.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"?
We've lost touch with a few people that I miss, including Hal.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...
???

Here it is if you haven't seen it - "That's all training is. Stress. Recover. Improve. You'd think any damn fool could do it."

What, to you, is a high weekly running mileage?
For the past couple of years, anything over 40 has been an accomplishment.

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity?
I didn't have a favorite vacation as a kid. I went to camp every summer, and I'd say my favorite activity at camp was probably softball. I played shortstop and pitched (I still don't get why boys don't play baseball in camp).

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school?
Hmmm...can't think of anything at all.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?
Being done with my longish run tomorrow, which will be done early enough to miss the triple digit temps.

What would your ultimate running-related accomplishment be? How about qualifying for Boston?

What is a dream running-related accomplishment for you in 2011? 2012? In 2011 to get back to half marathoning and hit my old paces. In 2012, maybe to run a 1:45 half, but that may not be realistic.

What is/are your favorite pre-race song (if you have one)? Get it Started by the Black Eyed Peas

What is your proudest running accomplishment? I guess my marathon PR of 4:10...but I'd like to break 4 hours so I'm not extremely proud of it.

Who do you miss the most from the "other site"? No one--all the cool people are over here.

What is the 2nd part to Dave-O's signature? Who said it? If you don't know, make something up...

When you were a kid (K-12), what was your favorite vacation? If you never had one, what was your favorite summer activity? Going to the beach with my family.

When you were a kid (K-12), what did you look the most forward to in going back to school? I love to read, so I'd say English since we read tons of books.

What are you most looking forward to this weekend? I'm moving to Chicago this weekend, so looking forward to starting a new phase of life there.

Happy Friday!!!
