Re: Because I can say that now
After a birthday dinner with Tim and the girls (and the best frozen yogurt), I went downstairs and ran on the treadmill for a little while. After I did some aerobics and light weights for 20 minutes. Felt good and I'm really excited for Warrior Dash. I have a lot of friends doing it throughout the day so I'm heading up early to cheer everyone on!
Hope everyone is having a great week! I need to catch up! School is about to start so it's a bit insane around here.
I love y'all!

Re: Because I can say that now
Is booze allowed on-course at the Dash? Or is that the incentive for finishing it as fast as you can?
Re: Because I can say that now
Good luck with the Warrior Dash. I'm sure you'll have fun and I'll get to read about it next week.

It does look like a blast and really looks like a bunch of couch potatoes coming out for a party.
They don't allow it on the course and it's recommended to not drink before. But the size of the beer after is worth it!Mike MacLellan wrote:Is booze allowed on-course at the Dash? Or is that the incentive for finishing it as fast as you can?

Re: Because I can say that now
Nice 3 mile run tonight. Tim was pushing my pace the second half of the run.
Tim - You're at 9:30
Chas - Okay. Still feels good
Tim - You're at 9:15
Chas - Okay. Still feels good
Tim - You're at 8:15
Chas - Okay. Starting not to feel so good
I think he dropped me into 7's but I went numb at that point and don't remember much hahahaha
Run was good and it will be my last before the Dash.
Goal - 45 min
11 min miles with a minute for each obstacle. I'm going to try and stay around a 10:30 pace and not all the obstacles will take a full minute. The mud pit will probably take the most time. We'll see!!! I can't wait!!!

Aw, aren't running buddies nice? Pushing it until you're numb and all...
I think my buddy was at the Dash that you posted the vid for. Internet here is too slow to load the whole thing right now to look, but I imagine I could find him if I looked.

I like being pushed until I'm numb and sweaty. I usually don't keep my running shoes on for that.

I think that's really all I know which is why I'm in the construction industry. Besides behind the bar, it was the only place that accepted me for me.

Re: Because I can say that now
2 easy miles tonight. Nothing special about the run. I'm trying to figure out what my next step is this fall. There is another obstacle race some friends want to do. The Denver RnR is the day after. I kind of wanted to do the half marathon but my mileage is low right now. I also would like to do see if some friends want to do a relay. If I do the Devil's Dash the day before, I may not be on my game Sunday. hmmmmmm
My main focus is Houston in January. I need to stay consistantly in the 10's so I want to be able to build my miles slowly and keep the pace down.
Lots to think about but for now I'll just keep putting in the short runs and trying to get rid of my last 20 pounds!

You are taking the right approach by building up a base. Once that's established, the real work begins and the sky is the limit!

Thanks Nick. You're always so supportive Makes me smile knowing I have you cheering me on. I know I can't keep doing these 3 milers though but I think the best approach would be Hal's Novice Plan as much as it pains me to say that. Just start from scratch and push the pace from the beginning. Hell maybe I'll just pull it and start Monday! No better time than the present right?

Re: Because I can say that now
Hope that your race goes well Chas! The guy I am training with has a similar run scheduled Saturday so he'll be able to tell me how that went.
Good luck in deciding how you want to train. Decide on a plan and go with it. I have no doubt that you are a very determined person once you set your sights on something.

Thanks Jon! Maybe I'll do a "fill it in" training program here. Have everyone fill out a week of training for me. 14 coaches? hahahaa
That would be kind of fun!

Re: Because I can say that now
3.75 miles today and it was hot. The first 2 miles were at 10:59 pace and then the last 1.75 I just set into an easy pace. I should have gotten out earlier because it's hot and sunny out.
I'm doing better with the heat especially after the weight loss. I still have a little bit to go but I feel good. Fit. That makes me happy. (I love this little guy)
Tonight Tim and I are hosting a poker tournament for the Pop Werner Football Association. This will be our second tournament so we're going to start promoting private events. Neat-o!

Re: Because I can say that now
Keep up the good work. I'm also trying to decide on a training plan, and I think there's something to be said for doing the novice plan but really working on getting the pace down a bit. Maybe I should do that too. Hal's novice programs are just...so....boring....though. Argh. But they do help build a base so that next time you can move on to something more interesting.
Have fun at Poker tonight!

I totally agree with that! I went to trail running to avoid those boring runs but we are about to hit Winter here so I will have to take a break from that in a few months. I just want to run faster. I don't want to be slow anymore. I want to be in the 9's and 10's.
