You just made my week, Ben. I've been waiting for these babies to be released for too long.

Re: Nike Flyknit Available This Friday
Yeah I was interested until I just read that the trainers are going to retail at 175.00 and the racers @ 150.00! I was thinking to heading to NikeTown and getting a pair but if they are at that price that dam shoe better doing the training for me also. Please tell someone knows different then I and these above prices are not true?
I'm really starting to get a little upset at the prices of shoes this is crazy especially for a a shoe that is made overseas for about 5 bucks!!

Wow. That's a lot. It is amazing technology, though. Much better than some $170 shoes out there...

At least most of the customers will actually use their $175 shoe for their intended purpose, as opposed to the $200+ Air Jordan buyer who causes riots in the mall (or worse!) and then uses them as a fashion statement, or keeps them pristine in their box.
As a Nike shareholder, if the market will bear the cost, then charge what you can.

Those prices are absurd. Shouldn't a minimal shoe cost less?

Can't run in Nike...would love to, but they don't fit!!! My Mizunos haven't failed me yet and are less expensive, too

R&D and high tech materials usually mean no. Having worked with the pharmaceutical industry, it really is amazing how costly R&D in any field is.

Hmmm, I wonder how many orphaned shoe concepts there are out there?

Someone should let Vibram and their $110 "barefoot" shoes in on this secret.

Given materials and labor costs, I have a feeling that each company's cost of making a VFF and, say, a Nike Air Max ($170) are comparable.

I can't speak to these specific shoes, but as for these types of upper... they're light, free of overlays and seams and ridiculously comfortable.
(Sorry about the Launch, Michele. It stinks when manufacturers kill off or "improve" a favorite style.)

Re: Nike Flyknit Available This Friday
I would be interested to see how they fit with my orthodics. Mizuno Ronins and brooks t7's have veen working like a champ for me for 1/2 the cost and sometimes 3/4 the cost. But, I'll check them out most likely. However, last time i checked I had about 7 pair of ronins 2's and 3's stashed away. mmmm. Plus the orange color is my go to color which Brooks t7's don't have!

Nike posted $2B in PROFIT last year. A 28% increase since 2009. I think their R&D budget is under control.

Apple posted profits of $9 B last QUARTER. It's all relative.

Re: Nike Flyknit Available This Friday
Should I be honored or embarrassed that the owner of Fleet Feet emailed me last night to confirm that an 11.5 Flyknit Racer was set aside for me?
$168 well spent! I pick them up Tuesday at the launch party. Woo-Hoo!!!!!

Candidly, I was surprised Nike's number was so low when Ben posted it. We're a little over half Nike's size (revenues of $12 vs. $21) and made $1.3B last year.
Apple's profit number blew me away when I heard it last week. Made me feel insignificant.
