Considering Goofy

Two problems:

1. I'm fat and out of shape
2. The Port Orleans resort is booked.

If I can't just roll out of bed and walk across the street to the starting line, I'm out. That's dedication for you.

I'll be watching for openings.

They have Dopey now, so you can run even more!

I did Goofy last January. The super early start is the hardest part of it all. Running the back to back races actually was much easier than I thought it would be. I stopped a lot for photos and just goofed off. It was fun.

2. 7 months is enough time to make the experience not stupid.

I saw that, but I'm not really seeing the additional achievement (with an even bigger check) of running a 5k and a 10k the 2 days before. I guess getting up for a 5:30 AM race three days in a row would be an achievement.

More importantly, it's already sold out.

Disney is my kind of marathon - flat and not too cold. I need to talk the wife into it. It should help some that I didn't renew my season tix this year for the Gators. Would also help if I could figure out a way to get fired without cause and get a severance right about training time.

Primary motivator - I'm turning 40 in October. I can't be fat and out of shape when I turn 40, and I need goals.

Oh, I'm pretty stupid. I'll probably convince myself to try to PR the marathon part.

I stayed at the All Sports resort when I ran the Goofy back in 2008. Like Carleen said getting up at 3:30 am to catch the bus was the worst thing about the race, the rest was very easy - even the bus from the farther away resort.

Chelsea PR'd the HM and ran the marathon for fun. Stopped and took pics with the characters. Easier to PR the first race.

When I ran the marathon in 2012, I had rooms at the Port Orleans. Man, that was perfect. Getting up at 4 AM is too early as it is. Getting up at 3, then walking 15 minutes to the starting line is ridiculous.

Still, this could be the goal I need to get going again.

Uh oh.  There is availability at the Port Orleans and I now have a reservation there.  I have to get serious about deciding whether to do this or not.  I'll also have to get my fat ass in shape.

I think I am going to break this news to the wife tonight.  Also, the UF ticket department keeps pestering me about renewing my season tix so I might break down and do that too.  I am going to be sooooo popular.

Still deliberating.  It's only 85% full at the moment, so I have some time.

I'm planning on Dopey for 2015.  I like excuses to go to Florida in January!
