Goofy Challenge-like alternatives
I'm fat and out of shape and in need of a goal. I'm likely to sign up for the Goofy challenge, but it is $365 (plus hotel!). Are there other saturday half, sunday full races out there?

How about a little less than a half and a full on ONE day?
Plenty of 50K races out there -- probably a lot more than the Goofy-syle events. Their food's better, too.

Or there's the Tahoe Triple... Run the whole circumference of Lake Tahoe over a long weekend!

Okay, now that sounds like a heck of a lot of fun. As does this.

Have I mentioned that my brother's moving to Reno? This might just be on the bucket list.

OK, I have hiked many, many miles around Lake Tahoe. But I have only scratched the surface of circumnavigating the whole trail. And I bet there are 10's of 1000's of feet of elevation gain. At that altitude, that would be way difficult. Beautiful but difficult.

I have family in Incline Village so I've been to Tahoe, but remind me - there's going to be a lot of hills there, right? I may have to look into that one.

I think the Tahoe Triple is a real reach for me. Maybe the half trifecta. The other problem is it is in early october. I can't be ready by then, but maybe for next year. It pushes all my real training into the brutal summer months though.
Still, I like this as a potential.
