Re: Redemption: 2013 Hamilton Road2Hope Marathon
It has been 80 degrees all week, but with little humidity, until yesterday, when a storm front started making it's way in. Then it got really humid...It is supposed to get colder starting on Sunday when the front passes. Hopefully it will be heading your way by early to middle of next week.Michele \"1L" Keane wrote:Good week so far, Nick. Is it warm and humid there like here???

Yep it was pretty uncomfortable here yesterday. During my run even though it was 73 degrees the humidity was 79% and the Dew Point was 67 degrees. Oh well what you going to do?Nick Morris wrote:It has been 80 degrees all week, but with little humidity, until yesterday, when a storm front started making it's way in. 20 miles...A dense fog this morning caused the humidity to be 100%!!! The air was so thick, you could have cut it with a butter knife. A nice easy run this morning, despite the humidity (which caused instant moistness). My legs felt decent after the day of rest. I ended up putting in 20.30 miles at a 7:58 pace and average HR of 138. Nothing to write home about, but definitely good miles. The stayed around the entire 2 hours and 40 minutes of running. It looks like a cold front is coming through with tomorrow's high of 55. Should be perfect weather for an easy 13 miles. I am running with my friends again, so I am thinking a recovery type pace of 8:00-9:00 min miles.

It's been humid and foggy here Saturday, too, with some mid-afternoon thunderstorms. I've never run in 100% humidity--unless you count rain. Enjoy the cooler temps Sunday for the 13 miler.

I guess you can consider rain 100% humidity And yes, the cooler temps and dry air was wonderful...Penelope wrote:It's been humid and foggy here Saturday, too, with some mid-afternoon thunderstorms. 13 miles...Definitely a different day today, as the cold front made it way through late on Saturday. The high today was 55 with no humidity. I was a little tired from my 20 miles yesterday and then all of the rump shaking at the wedding I went to last night. The good news is that I was running with some friends and the pace was a nice and easy recovery type pace. We knocked out 13.33 miles at an 8:39 pace. Definitely a good week of running in the books. This weeks total was just a hair over 70 miles. With mid to upper 70 miles scheduled for next week, I will be ready for taper. Race day is four weeks away from today...

The weekend here in Indy was pretty much a bust for long runs...either rain or 100% humidity..pick your poison. A wedding reception after a 20 miler is perfect for recovery.

It would have felt great yesterday if it had rained (like it was on the way to the race), but nope, we had to settle for 98% humidity instead.Nick Morris wrote:I think that I would take the raindot520 wrote:The weekend here in Indy was pretty much a bust for long runs...either rain or 100% humidity..pick your poison. That rump-shaking must have been some pretty great cross-training, Nick! Good job taking it easy on the 13-miler, and good luck on your big mileage week.

4 miles recovery...I hit up the gym for some weight training before heading out for my recovery run. My legs felt pretty good as I headed out, but it was a little easer to keep the pace slower than last week. Because of that, I knew that my legs were a little worn. I got it in though and felt good afterwards. 4.26 miles at an 8:19 pace. Doubles tomorrow...

4 miles...The first of two runs today. It was a frigid 41 degrees this morning as I started out for my run. Because of the chill, I decided to go with long sleeves for the first time all cycle. My legs seemed to bounce back even more from yesterday, but I still kept the pace light, as I want to survive the week in one piece I ended up completing 4.27 miles at a 7:52 pace. 8 more miles scheduled for this afternoon.

Great to read that you are just rolling along just fine! Has to be a great feeling knowing your legs are bouncing back from your runs. Not only what it tells me is that you are taking care of the easy/recovery runs and not running them to hard and they are leaving you fresh the next day. Good work Nick! See it's all just one big balancing act, the tough part is finding your own balance!

8 miles...Second run of the day. I was a little tired at work following this morning run. As like Schuey said above, training is such a balancing act. Knowing when to take it easy and when to let it go. I figured that tonight's run was going to be a struggle. But it ended up being the total opposite. You know, one of those times when you just let it go. My legs just kept getting more life with every mile I ran tonight. I ended up completing 8.20 miles at a very nice 7:31 pace. It was a far cry from the 4 miles at 7:52 pace this morning. 12 total for the day today and 13 more scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

That Schuey quote is a good one. Usually impossible to preduct how it's going to go. Sounds like a nice run. Keep it up!Nick Morris wrote:10.08.13 -

Sorry the HoneyMaxx didn't work for you. We don't get too many complaints about the taste....ever. Curious, what was it that you didn't like? a certain flavour? bitter eh? Let us know.
We do use stevia as a natural sweetener - some people just cannot tolerate stevia in any amount, we get it. Personal preference is key.
All the best in your running and training.

I've actually continued using their product as it's going be served at the race and I wanted to make sure I could handle it OK. I still don't enjoy the taste but I've gotten used to it. Other than the taste it seems to work fine. I don't have any stomach issues and it seems to provide the fueling I need.
