Day miles type .

Sat 15 long 50°F JFK50: 11.3 with Schuey; 4.2 with Vivian.
Sun - .
Week 25
YTD 1,885
All rise. The JFK50 runners are in. Schuey, Tim, Wendy, Michael and Vivian all finished and we were 5th of 13 open men's team. Trevor went 34.4. Conditions were brutal with 15-20mph headwinds and temps falling from the 40s into the 30s. I almost completely botched it for Vivian when I failed to take a turn at Frederick that caused us a 40 minute delay getting her (and I) to the start. But we got there with no minutes to spare. Michele, Lisa, Sara Jane and Chris did fabulous work as crew. Three dogs and a baby joined the after party. All rise.

Only 28 miles, but it did include a 10-mile PB (not on the podium) and a slower 10K later the same day (age-group win by 14 minutes!).
Congratulations to the JFK50 team and crew. Really impressive performance.

Re: Your Week in Training Nov 18 - 24
It was pretty cool taking part in being on the support team for all the 365ers running JFK. That's a crazy race. 50 miles that kicks off with a multimile long run straight up a paved road at 5% or so grade and THEN you really start doing the hard stuff on the Appalachian Trail. 50 miles! Totally nuts but fun to watch and experience. Vivian, Schuey, Michael and the Millers were amazing. I got to run the last 12 miles with Schuey and geez he's made of tough stuff running on a very badly banged up foot. I felt privileged to be along to see the show. Lisa, Michelle and I all wanted to blow off running the 10K today in the bitter cold wind (well, maybe not Lisa - she's hardcore) but we did it because how can you not be inspired after seeing an ultra like that? Plus Michele was taking us all out for brunch so we had to earn it first.

Thanks goes out to the JFK crew (Michele, SJ, Chris, Kevin and Lisa) and congratulations to the finishers (Martin, Wendy, Michael, Vivian). It was an incredibly rewarding experience. I swore off ultras during the race but now I'm trying to figure out where the next one will be. Oh the games we play to get to that finish line. I think Kettle Moraine 100 or maybe just the 100k next June.

Congrats to team 365 - haven't heard from Michael yet (did I miss it?), but that is AWESOME for not having been able to train specifically for it and for doing it while dinged up! Congrats to all 5!!! Wow!

Re: Your Week in Training Nov 18 - 24
Congrats JFK 365er's !!!
Things were going well this week, I had 53 miles in by Thursday, then I was down with stomach flu the remainder of the week. Hopefully next week I'll bounce back.
Total for week = 53 miles
