Randy, you are in that event. Huh. I always thought it would be cool to watch one. This is the closest/cheapest one to do and now you are in the race. It's better if you actually know someone in the race. Hmmm.

I'll be concentrating on shorter races to try and find the speed that I lost somewhere along the way this year.

If I survive my marathon in December 2012 plans are

March - Grin and Bear It 5K (with the grandkids)

July - Local 4th of July 10K

Sept - MacDash sprint distance triathlon

Oct - run/walk Portland marathon with my daughter (her first)

Learn to ski and paddle in preparation for the 2013 Pole Pedal Paddle.

Wow Martin! That's a lot of ultras! And the 100 miler in there, too. I hope you keep your blog up next year! I know you're tough and will train well for all of them, though.

Maybe do the Lakefront 50 miler in 2013??

Julie lakefront 50 will have to be on the list in 2013 with you here. As for the blog if I do have a blog again I will make sure to keep my blog up. Lisa wants me to start a new one and I want to but just not sure. There has been a lot of things going on over the last month that has keep me away from here. I wish it was all good things but like life happens it hasn't been all good but things are getting much better.

Hang tough Schuey. I know what you mean about life happening . . . just had a year like that. It got in the way of my running - something I should have kept a priority. You've got a hell of a racing schedule planned. Good luck.

Hang in there! Glad to hear things are getting better. It would be great to meet you and Lisa in 2013 whether or not you run it. I think we're planning pizza after the 50 miler.

Whew...looks like a lot of good stuff planned for 2012!

I'm not quite done with 2011 yet, as I have the Seattle Marathon on November 27...although that may be downgraded to the half for me due to foot issues. We'll see how much pain I feel like dealing with as it gets closer.

For 2012, the only thing I have planned is the Houston Marathon in January. After that, if my foot issues have not been solved, I will probably take some time off to deal with those. It's all up in the air beyond that...hopefully I'll get in at least one, if not two, other marathons later in the year, but I have no idea which ones they'll be.

Everything I've done before at that distance was during marathon training and I never felt like I got the best time I am capable of. I'm looking at Disney (Goofy) for January 2013.

Now my plans have changed. Since I had surgery that took me out longer than planned, I am running the half at Illinois and then the Traverse City, MI marathon a month later. Gotta remember to register for it tomorrow!!!

I still plan on running a lot in 2012.

A few races and a fall marathon...nothing set in stone yet.

Besides Goofy in Jan & Tough Mudder in May, I have an open plate for races under the marathon distance until the fall. I am planning on getting back to 26.2 in the fall, but whether or not NYC rejects me yet again will be the deciding factor. If not NYC, I've wanted to do RI, but the hotel situation is a problem - too expensive & 2-night minimums. Another thought is taking the whole family to the Grand Canyon. My wife & I have been there once, so I'm thinking about going back to run the marathon & allow my boys to see that great wonder of God's creation before they're off to college.

I am looking to do something called the BadAss 500

16 marathon
1 50k
1 50 mile

all within 20 weeks. 500 = the # of miles of those races (roughly). Might be in June.

But looking and doing is quite different!

I had hoped to get the BQ in Philly two weeks ago and not run a marathon in 2012, but having qualified for Boston by a mere 14 seconds in Philly, I'm considering running the Run for the Red Poconos Marathon (a very fast course) in May to try to better my BQ time, and further guarantee that I'll be able to register for Boston 2013. It's all predicated on the knee, and whether it will withstand a training cycle this coming year. Otherwise, I have no concrete racing plans other than training in such a way that doesn't hurt the knee.

4:59:59 at Chicago 2012 (if the temps are cool) , and if not there, then possibly Elyria in November.

Leading up to that will be an assortment of Halfs including Last Chance for Boston (February Ohio), Indy Mini (May).
I'd love to go back to Danville, IL for Howl at the Moon and get my long training run in (August).

Ha! In re-reading this thread it looks like I already responded....but hey, I put the 4:59:59 in there.
