How Dumb Was This?
This weekend is my two day race: Half on Saturday & Full on Sunday. Had my goal marathon at the end of Sept. Started back up going too hard and so I backed off. Legs have come back pretty good since. Ok so yesterday I was running at lunch and had a meeting I needed to get to. So about a half to three quarters of mile to go I saw a couple of guys heading in from a run. We only have one shower. I ended up doing that last .5-.75 at a good 5K pace to get ahead of them to get the shower first. So my question is how dumb was that for this weekend? It was a bit of a shock to my legs to run that fast. I'm doing an easy 5 today and then nothing Thursday and Friday.

I think it's fine - a little bit of a shakeout is good for the legs and also is just plain fun.

Actually, that extra spurt might have motivated your body to crank up the production of more mitochondria, but I have no evidence if that's true.
Guess you'll find out how your legs ended up. Hope you're not looking to PR, but have a great race, nonetheless.

Way late, but I have no problem with a hard effort (especially a brief one) 3 days out from a race.
