Apirl Marathon Suggestions. Not Boston!

Looking for a marathon in April to do that is driving distance from NJ? Besides Boston! No BQ here.

Charlottesville, VA?

Knoxville, TN?

Kentucky Derby?

Country Music?

Trail one in Delaware?

It is the first week of May instead of April but I think (not sure) Kevin, Vivian and Sara Jane are doing the Potomac River Run Marathon on May 6:

Drive to the airport, fly to Eugene. April 29.

I hear it on good authority that Jerry is going to be there. Boston is so, like, 2009 for him.

Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, well that would be a long drive, though.

There are so many good ones in the spring, I am sure you'll find a good one. I'll keep thinking.

Your options in Apirl are poor. The Triple Crown Trail race in Delaware is a challenging trail run. Of course, you could do it as an appetizer for the JFK50. The Exeter (now Gansett) Marathon is for qualifiers only. And that's about it. If you push back to the first weekend in May and the New Jersey Marathon doesn't put the fire in your belly, do as Chris suggests and consider the Potomac River Run Marathon. Sure to be a good time.

If I lived in NJ, I would choose the Charlottesville Va marathon. Beautiful countryside. Nice race destination . Good tourist place. Good Marathon Guide reports on the actual race(perhaps not the t-shirt, expo, etc)

Scenic marathon but train for hills.



I boycotted the CMM in Nashville because it is also a Competitor group R and R race that only caters to the half marathoners and forgets about the race support needed for the marathoners. Weather is unpredictable--hot, rainy, who knows?
