Back to the Future
Ok, Kenny shamed me into starting a new blog rather than continuing the old one since it was too many pages . I chose the title for a number of reasons:
1) because it is one of my favorite movies on which my husband's uncle (Neil Canton) was a producer and it starred one
of my favorite actors (Michael J. Fox) who is battling Parkinson's, a disease that my uncle succumbed to this past week
2) because it brings back memories of college in Boston a place where my daughter will be attending college in the fall
and 3) because I ran my first official Boston Marathon 25 yrs ago when I was 25 and now I will be running my 11th official Boston as a 50 yr old
My goals this year are simple: run a good half at Houston, get through a good training cycle and run a good Boston, and then get my daughter through high school and off to college. And not to forget my move back to Cleveland, OH with my husband after three yrs of him living in San Diego while my daughter and I stayed here in Atlanta. Should be an interesting year.
One other goal is my Boston time. When I was 25, I ran a 3:16:24 at Boston. No, I cannot run that (but that sure would be nice, just not possible anymore), but I want to run or better it's age graded equivalent. I think I can most certainly do that if all goes well during training. I also need to stay healthy at least for the next 5 Bostons - after all, how many of my daughter's college friend's Moms will be running with me and by them.
So here is to 2012, and beyond which will at least me 2015 because we know that Marty McFly has been there.

This can't be for Boston , is it? I thought the race started at 10:00 AM or so.
Also, I did not receive any emails like this. Maybe because I am slower and they send slow people confirmation's out later?

Re: Back to the Future
No, it is for Houston next week, John. The scary thing is the age number and the first corral.
Re: Back to the Future
Great blog inspiration and title! I loved that movie--remember going to see it the first year Jim and I were married. You are running so great and are truly an inspiration to me! I will not ever match your speed but I have goals of continuing to run well even as I get older!
Good luck in Houston--kick ass in the new age group and in Corral A!!!

Re: Back to the Future
I finally saw that movie for the first time only last summer. It is, indeed, a very good film.
I look forward to finally meeting my surrogate runner-mom in Boston this year

Re: Back to the Future
Have fun at Houston! Corral A is because you're so fast and 50 is pretty much the prime of life, right?
My "running Mom" and honorary grandma of my little girl is going to be at Houston. I wish she could stuff me in her suitcase but probably not happening. Anyway, have a great time and I look forward to hearing about it when you get back

Welcome to the 50's!
Any word on the water station, yet? We're having a meeting Wednesday evening to go over the process. Yesterday, I received a spreadsheet showing me which table on the Yellow station I'm working.
See you Saturday.

No, I'm going to email him back today and check.
Re: Back to the Future
So officially, I will be at the Yellow Water stop tomorrow morning during the trials races with ounce (Doug) and then I hope to see the rest of you at lunch. I'm a little nervous for Sunday's half marathon race which is a bit funny since I'm hardly ever nervous for a marathon. I know I'm trained, but it has been a little rocky the last couple of weeks with the holidays, a bit of a cold, some travel, etc. And of course everything hurts (!) . A new age group as well.
Off to Houston later today with my daughter going to San Diego to help my husband close up his apartment. I figured she'd rather go west than to Houston and I didn't even have to bribe her.

Re: Back to the Future
I hope you have a great time helping out during the trials tomorrow (I hope we get a good first-person perspective on the competitors - where is the yellow water stop?). And good luck in your first race in a new AG! I bet you'll do great.
