Been following his Beer Mile on Twitter. Symmonds is a cool dude.

That being said, his chugging ability is TERRIBLE!!!!! He must have been turning 55 second quarters because the beers did not go down fast. I don't know, I want to see a video in real time, because that didn't seem like a 5:19 based on the beer drinking portion.

For the beer drinking, I have him at

Beer 1 - 7.6 seconds
Beer 2 - 16.1
Beer 3 - 20.5
Beer 4 - 22.2

That's 66.4 seconds, which means he ran a 4:03.5 miles. Granted, he's getting some recovery between the quarters, but still, that seems fast.

It does seem fast, but it's possible for someone at his level. That's an average of just under 61 seconds/quarter. If he's capable of running a 1:42.9 in the 800, I think that running 60s would feel pretty easy for him. I wonder how many 100s of sub 60 laps he's run in workouts. It probably comes fairly naturally to him, even if it isn't easy. Still, it would be better to see the whole thing in real time, even if it would make the video a lot longer.

Edit: If he drank in 66.4 seconds and ran a 5:19 total, that's 4:13 for the running portion, so 64s on average. I think that's doable for him since his 1500 PR is about 3:36 or so.

I LOVED seeing this. He is such a fun guy! And it was on a local track. I wish I had known when he was doing it because I would have gone to watch and cheer him on. He has passed me on the trails before, and whenever he does, it is really good for my pace...he scoops me up in his contrail and I just float along behind.

They evidently had him at 4:19. I think he just lost time because it was a challenge to chug the beers Smile...I too wish that it had been in real time...I wouldn't have minded watching him run Smile
