Your Week in Training June 3 - June 9

What, no one ran last week? It was National Running Day one of those days!

Still just general running, waiting for the 16 weeks before the Chicago marathon to start before starting the program. I have decided to do the Hansen plan but need to pick between the Intermediate and Advanced plans.

Mon - 6.1 miles, easy
Tue - 7.5 miles with 5 miles at MP
Wed - 2.6 miles, easy
Thu - 5.2 miles, easy
Fri - rest (golf)
Sat - 13.2 miles (My runs have felt difficult for months. For some reason, today's run did not feel that way, hopefully it stays that way)
Sun - 5 miles

Week - 40 miles
YTD - 703 miles

Something between John P's 40 and Jerry's 80 (nice Jerry!). No long one this week but finally getting back to lots of back to back runs and actual running 6 days a week.

Total for the week 63

Highlights were a 4 mile tempo @ 6:35-6:40 followed by 4x400 with 75 sec rest in between. Tough run. Sunday went long with 16. Rest were the normal easy runs.

I was going to get in touch with you but my schedule was kind of uncertain so it was going to be hard to nail down a time to meet anybody. Oh well, next time!

Second hard week a row as the peak phase of my ultra prep continues. The race is July 13

Tue: 2.2 miles walking
Wed: 3.1 miles barefoot; 3.1 miles walking
Thu: 6.3 miles low HR run
Fri: 10.3 miles on the hills (still low HR)
Sat: Rest
Sun: 10.3 miles low HR run
Mon: 26.2 miles on hilly, beautiful, trails Smile

Week: 61.5 miles

Next up: A step-back week

M- 6 mi w 3x1 with hills, Core/strength
T- Swim, Bike to pool 11.5 mi
W- 7.65 mi w/6 mi @ 9:29 heat adjusted pace run, Core/strength
T- Swim
F- 12 mi @ 10:36 heat adjusted long run, Core/strength
S- Bike race route 11.4 mi
S- Rest
First runs in the heat this year. Slowed paces a bit but held up better than I have in the past. Learning to hydrate better which is helping.

Kept a low profile Wed, Thu & Fri as I was in a state [in Nigeria] that had an elevated level of risk. Running suffered, but better safe than sorry ... or so THEY say.
